Islands of Adventure: Disassembling The Hulk (PART 2)

Welcome to the second part of our newest Islands of Adventure photo-report. Be sure not to miss PART 1 of this update, which can be found right here.
In the previous part of this update, we took a look around the Port of Entry area of the park, as well as The Incredible Hulk Coaster. Let's continue to explore this wonderful park by focusing on Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, as well as The Lost Continent. There's still much more to see around this place...

We still have a few more photos of The Incredible Hulk Coaster to share with you:

Last week:

Notice that the lift was up:

This week:

Notice that the water has been drained:

It's time to move on:

The restrooms near the comic shop are closed for refurbishment:

Toon Lagoon:

Concrete work was done in this area a few weeks ago:

And we are... moving on:

Jurassic Park:

Something is definitely wrong with this Camp Jurassic slide. Here's how it looked last week:

A new sign was recently installed (photo taken yesterday):

In The Lost Continent, we noticed that the top of the arch located in front of the Court of Miracles is being refurbished. Notice the temporary color prevalent on the top portion of the wall:

The backside of water of the arch:

A new, tiny Express sign has been installed near Sindbad's theater:

Let's now take a quick look around Seuss Landing:

Well, that should be it!:

And that is all for now. Before concluding, remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. Thank you for your support, and see you again soon.

  2. I am curious why they needed to replace most of the Hulk? The ride is 16 years old. Is that the expected life cycle of a roller coaster? I thought with regular maintenance, rust control and maintenance, a roller coaster could last 20-30 years (unless it is outdated).

    1. In florida ypu have alot of salt air but yu are correct with proper maintaining that is not a big issue. The well believed theory is that Universal simply wanted to upgrade and bring a new better experience to the guests. The Hulk will receive all new trains as well and my guess is the new track and trains will do alot to adress the noise of the coaster operating. (The woosh) also is believed replacement of tire launch system to LIMs. The que is also being totally redone to bring a more realistic feel to the ride. (This might countinue throughout the land someday) but that is hear say. Universal actually upgrades rides ;)

  3. What is the purpose of the lift in the water?

  4. It's possible that there's nothing wrong with Hulk and they just want to give guests a different, better ride after 16 years. It is in a prime location afterall. I think that's great.

It's also possible that the water has taken it's toll on it and aged it prematurely.

  5. I know the launch section is getting replaced with a LIM launch instead.

  6. The lift allows them to move cherry pickers in and out of the drained area.

  7. Maybe it has to do with the metal detectors they had people go through before riding to make sure everyone had all items out of their pockets since there was an issue with that. Maybe this would eliminate the metal detectors after the work is done? I'm not up to date on that story but recall hearing about the metal detectors.

    1. No because the track will still go over guest areas....it's possible but simply replacing the track has little to do with it. The metal detectors are used when the ride passes over walkways ect.

  8. The section that was near the water was always rusted.
