New Downtown Disney Maps, Date of Name Conversion

The transformation of Downtown Disney into the more elaborate Disney Springs is still months away from being completed, but the Walt Disney World Resort is already trying to have Guests become more accustomed to the new brand.
Indeed, when picking up the latest maps of this entertainment district, Guests will notice the new Disney Springs logo just below the Downtown Disney name (which also sports a newer, more modern logo). Take a look at these new maps:

The new maps feature the following updates:
  • Additions of Morimoto Asia and Jack Lindsey’s Hangar Bar opening this fall;
  • United World Soccer’s new storefront at the West Side;
  • Hess parking lot updated to reflect the Speedway transition.
In this article you will find both the regular Downtown Disney map and the "Tips for Visiting" guide:

When is the actual name change going to happen? According to some very reliable sources, the name conversion should officially be done on October 1, 2015. That being said, this is subject to change, and should be considered just a rumor until officially confirmed by the Walt Disney World Resort.

Why is the name changing this year rather than when everything is complete in 2016? The timing for the Downtown Disney name to transition into Disney Springs is based on the property reaching several milestones throughout the summer and fall, including retail and food & beverage venue openings, and significant infrastructure and roadway progress.
