Disney Springs Project News (June 1-16, 2014)

The major Disney Springs project that is completely transforming the Downtown Disney area continues. Many sections of this entertainment district are closing, while other new areas and additions continue to open up for Guests' enjoyment (like the new Starbucks locations, for example). Here you are a brief overview of some projects that have already begun earlier this month or that will start very soon. As always, please note that dates are subject to change:

JUNE 1 – ENTRANCE 1 CLOSED TO INBOUND TRAFFIC
As roadwork progresses to improve future traffic flow, Entrance 1 was closed to inbound traffic. Vehicles entering from Buena Vista Drive must use Entrance 2.

JUNE 3 – GUEST BYPASS NEAR LEGO OPENS
Beginning June 3, the promenade in front of LEGO Imagination Center was temporarily closed. Guests traveling to and from the Downtown Disney Marketplace can now use a pedestrian bypass behind LEGO Imagination Center. Directional signs indicate two route passage options coming out of or leading into the bypass.

JUNE 6 – MARKETPLACE CO-OP OPENS
On June 6, the Marketplace Co-Op opens in the space replacing Team Mickey in the Marketplace. This is the first Disney retail concept that includes multiple shops within one location. It will serve as a testing space that allows for shop rotation based on demand, new trends and seasonality.

JUNE 7-9 – AMC RING STAGE CLOSES & HARDSCAPE REPLACEMENT BEGINS
On June 7, Ring Stage and the bar locations near AMC will close and talent will be relocated. This will make way for the AMC and Planet Hollywood hardscape replacement that begins June 9 to prepare for the first parking garage opening. In addition, Joffrey’s will temporarily close for 5-6 weeks for the first phase of this work.

JUNE 11 – PLEASURE ISLAND BUS LOOP CLOSES
Beginning on June 11, the Pleasure Island bus loop officially closes, and all bus traffic will be directed to the Marketplace bus loop.

JUNE 16 – MAJOR MODIFICATIONS TO PARKING LOTS E, F & G
These modifications will impact parking and pedestrian sidewalks. Cars will no longer be able to drive around the bus loop, and the loop will become the new construction vehicle entrance. Changes to Intersection 3 will also take place at this time – Guests will be able to enter, but the construction wall path will be extended to keep everyone safe.

BUENA VISTA DRIVE ROADWORK
Lane closures continue on Buena Vista Drive, outside of Team Disney, Casting and SunTrust. Stay tuned, as lane closures and parking lot closures will change frequently throughout the coming weeks and months.
