Dave & Buster's Construction Update (March 30, 2011)

Welcome to anew Dave & Buster's update! Take a look at the progress that has been done on the building:

Tilikum gets back in the show after more than a year

You surely remember last year's tragic accident that involved the death of dawn Brancheau, one of the trainers at SeaWorld Orlando. This happened more than a year ago (in February 2010), but we all still remember it vividly, as it was like an earthquake in the theme park fans all over the world.  Today, SeaWorld revealed that they will allow Tilikum, the killer whale involved in the aforementioned accident, to return back in the show. read more, from the Orlando Sentinel:

Killer whale responsible for trainer's February 2010 death returns to SeaWorld shows on Wednesday
SeaWorld Orlando plans to put the killer whale Tilikum back into public performances beginning today, for the first time since the 6-ton whale killed a trainer at the marine park more than one year ago.
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment President Jim Atchison signed off on the decision this week, and Tilikum is expected to appear in an 11:30 a.m. performance of "Believe," the company's main killer…

Joyland Theme Park - Plagiarism at its Finest

China is recently being invaded by theme parks, and that's really great to hear. But unfortunately, among these new theme parks, we have at least one that is planning to build some rides, attractions and buildings that are... way too familiar to Orlando residents and visitors...
This is Joyland(click on the link to go to the official theme park site).

Let's examine some of their artworks for the park (that is currently well under construction), and see how many similarities we can find. First artwork (click on it to see the details):

A look at Orlando: The City Beautiful

Orlando, the place where dreams come true. Where you can meet Mickey, travel around the world, go behind-the-scenes, take a safari, play with dolphins and discover ancient worlds. But, what about the city of Orlando itself? Have you ever noticed that most of the theme parks and attractions are located in the outskirts of the city? Then, you have to see these photos that we took inside Orlando. It is indeed the city beautiful.
Of course, we didn't visit the whole place, but we went to Lake Eola, the famous residence of the Orlando fountain. Enjoy the views!"

New "Brave" artworks and Mickey's new movie

The Disney, etc. website shared with us two interesting articles today.
The first one (that can be viewed HERE) unveils some of the artworks for a new Disney Animated film, known as "Brave". Here's one of the artworks:

About the second article, there has been a rumor about a new full-length film of Mickey Mouse and Friends. You can read everything HERE. Here's an excerpt of the article:
"During an interview with Disney veteran Burney Mattinson, Bleeding Cool discovered that a feature-length project for Mickey, Donald, and Goofy is in the very, very early stages of development."
What do you think? I am personally a fan of Mickey Mouse cartoons, so for me this is a great news, and i hope they'll continue to work on this project.

The Disney Look... to the past! (March 26 - April 1)

As we post every week, here you are a look at the history of the Walt Disney Company!: __________________________________________________________________
This Week in Disney History: March 26-April 1

April 1, 1995 - Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park opens at the Walt Disney World Resort According to legend, a freak snow storm once blanketed the southwest corner of the Walt Disney World Resort, and enterprising locals took advantage, creating Florida's first ski resort on Mount Gushmore. But when the usual hot weather returned, the black diamond runs and bobsled tracks melted away to create some of the world's most thrilling toboggan runs. (This place did open on April Fool's Day.) The third water park to open at the resort, Disney's Blizzard Beach features a family-friendly mix of unique and exciting attractions, but for many the signature ride remains Summit Plummet. Perched atop a ski jump launch, daring riders plunge down this 120-foot-tall incline, hitti…

Busch Gardens Theming Update

As you know, a theme park ride is not a good one, without the proper theming. And the new Busch Gardens Roller Coaster is really proving to be a masterpiece of theming. A new Cheetah Hunt update, over at, reveals how extensive the theming is going to be. Take a look at just one of the many pictures that you can find over there:

Doesn't it look spectacular? And wait until you see the rest! Thanks again to BGTNation for keeping us always up-to-date with the news from Busch Gardens Tampa! By the way, did you check out our latest SeaWorld Orlando update? If not, you can find it here!

Magic Kingdom update - Town Square news and more

No week is complete without having a Magic Kingdom update, right? Yes, I know that it's a new week already (Monday? Wasn't it Friday yesterday? Time flies by really quickly...). Anyway, let's see what Magic Kingdom has to offer now. With all this construction, we need to be kept up-to-date. There you go:
Let's begin with the Town Square Theater, which will open next Friday:

Disney's Blizzard Beach water park reopens today

The Landmarks Apartments at Universal Orlando

Would you like to live close to some of the best theme parks in the world? What about seeing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, the Incredible Hulk coaster, Doctor Doom's FearFall or even JAWS from your own window? No, this is no an advertisement. It's an update on the completely new apartment complex that has been finally completed. It is situated right behind the JAWS ride, at Universal Studios Florida. Take a look at some pictures that we took while passing by the area (we didn't enter because it's a private property, of course):

OOTL: Disney Junior lands in California

The official Disney Parks Blog reminded us that just yesterday, the new show "Disney Junior: Live on Stage" has premiered at Disney California Adventure park. Take a look:

Adventure for Little Ones: 'Disney Junior - Live on Stage!'
As a new parent, I’m constantly rediscovering our theme parks through the eyes of my six-month-old son, Lucas. Over the weekend, our latest adventure took us to see “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is a newly refreshed version of Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage!

This 24-minute spectacle is geared toward families with preschoolers and takes them on a journey through some of the most popular Disney Junior programming. A host of characters from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Little Einsteins,” and my son’s favorite – “Handy Manny,” take the audience along as they plan a surprise party for Minnie Mouse, participate in a space ship race, and fix a bubble machine.

Sneak-peek inside the Town Square Theater

I’m happy to report that earlier today, WDI gave us an earful – pun intended – on the details planned for this exciting new meet-and-greet area.

Cheetah Hunt testing

The official Busch Gardens Tampa Blog shares with us some news and pictures of Cheetah Hunt's testing! Take a look: __________________________________________________________________________
Ride Envelope Testing Begins On Cheetah Hunt With Track Construction Complete, Cars are Slowing Making Their Way Around

Cypress Garden's Storm Surge lands in London

Cypress Gardens, the former theme park that was located in Winter Haven (now it will become LEGOLAND Florida, as you may know) had a somewhat difficult period in the last years of its existence.
During the last year of operation, Cypress Gardens' management decided to sell all the rides that they had, and they wanted to keep only the water park with the gardens (they also got rid of the animals). Some of these rides remained here in Florida (i.e. The Starliner and the Galaxy Spin), others never got to be sold, and were re-purposed for LEGOLAND Florida (i.e. The Triple Hurricane, The Swamp Thing and more).
But there's more. Some rides (or maybe only one) got shipped further away, across the Atlantic Ocean. Indeed, one of our readers, Ben Miller (that we thank a lot!!) sent us some pictures of the familiar Storm Surge, a water attraction that was in Cypress Gardens. Now, it found found a home in a London theme park, (which is by the way a Merlin theme park) called Thorpe park. Tak…

New RunDisney race at WDW

The Disney Parks Blog shares with us a news about a new kind of race that will soon debut at the Walt Disney World resort. Read more:

Follow the Clues to Discover the New RunDisney Race
One of the best kept secrets floating around Disney is about a new runDisney race. Speculation on exactly what the race will be and where it will take place has gotten pretty crazy at times. So we’re going to help you try to figure it out. Starting today, we are posting a series of clues on the runDisney Facebook page. The clues will be posted every few days leading up to the official announcement of the new event. Figure them out, put them together, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what kind of race we’re planning. The clues won’t be easy, so put on your thinking caps and start your detective work. And don’t worry, an entire runDisney community is there to help you solve the riddles! In the mean time, do you want a hint? Well, I’ve probably said too much already. Plus it wouldn’t be any fun if I told…

Magic Kingdom - Adventureland's bridge open & more

You know, when some rehabs are finally done, after months and months of work, you feel like you are proud of the work done (even though you may have done nothing towards the project)... For example, now that the work on the Exposition Hall is almost done, I feel so happy. It has never looked this beautiful. Also Pecos Bill's side is looking better than ever, as the new Adventureland bridge (even though it's technically not done yet). Anyway, we have many pictures to see today, so let's start!

Cheetah Hunt update

A new Cheetah Hunt update has been posted at BGTNation.netjust yesterday, showing the placement of one of the trains of this great new coaster, and more theming! Check it out!

By the way, is anyone going to attend the grand opening of the coaster? We're planning on doing so, but of course, any plan can change at anytime.

The Seas at Epcot helps Manatees

Just as SeaWorld Orlando does, Disney tries to help marine life, like the magnificent manatees. Take a look: _______________________________________________________________
The Seas releases one endangered manatee and welcomes another
Last March a rescued manatee, Jasper, was brought to The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot for care. The hope was to be able to release him back to his natural habitat in about a year, after he gained weight and received medical care for cold stress. The Animal Programs team released him in the Indian River Lagoon on the Atlantic Coast of Florida Feb. 22. That same afternoon, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported that Jasper was cavorting with a group of 30 other manatees.

A look at Waikolohe Valley (Disney's Aulani resort)

The Disney Parks Blog shares with us a very nice video (along with some information) of Aulani's majestic pool. The new resort is situated in Hawaii, and will open soon. Take a look:

Waikolohe Valley Takes Shape at Aulani
It’s a pity, but I don’t get to spend all my time on Oahu. I did get to visit the site of Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa last week, and I brought back the latest video of construction progress. This is really exciting for me because, for the first time, I think you can really see some of the key recreation elements taking shape in the Resort’s central Waikolohe Valley.
In the foreground you can spot Menehune Bridge, possibly the handiwork of the Islands’ legendary little people. When completed, it will be a 2,200-square-foot, interactive water play area for children. Further in the background is one of the great landmarks of Waikolohe Valley, Pu‘u Kino. It means “hidden faces in the lava” and if you look closely, you may already be able to detect a few of the hidde…

Universal's Water Park? - RUMOR comes back again

This rumor is one of the most recurring in the resort. There are people that say that Universal will build a new theme park on the lot just behind Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, while others say that they will build a new water park (and get rid of the largely un-themed Wet 'n' Wild, which is not as profitable as a whole new, and themed, Universal Orlando water park would be).
But, let's take a look at the place in question. The place is really big, as you can see from these photos:

Town Square Theater to open on April 1st?

According to several sources, the new Town Square Theater (at the Magic Kingdom) should open on April 1st, 2011. If you would like to know more about the features of the new Town Square Theater, please click HERE.
The official Walt Disney World site for Cast Members confirms this, giving these strange opening hours:
Character Meet and Greet (including Disney Princesses) at Town Square Theater
8 a.m. - 11 p.m. April 1 & 2 / 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. April 3 - on
We are almost sure that the hours of April 3rd (and the following days) have not been decided yet, as we expect them to open the Town Square Theater from park opening to park close.

The Disney Look... to the past! (March 19-25)

Hello, and welcome to this week's look to the history of the Disney World, Land and Company!
This Week in Disney History: March 19-25

March 19, 1959 – Walt Disney Pictures releases “The Shaggy Dog” Meet Wilby Daniels, your average teenage inventor. His father, a retired mailman, doesn’t understand him – and after having had too many canine run-ins on his mail route – won’t even consider letting his youngest son, Moochie, have a dog. When an accident at a museum puts Wilby in possession of a cursed ancient ring, he transforms into a Bratislavian sheepdog. The curse can only be broken through a heroic selfless act, and his father chasing him out of the house isn’t the only thing Wilby has to worry about, as he becomes ensnared in a web of international espionage. The first live-action comedy released by Disney, “The Shaggy Dog” features Disney regulars Tommy Kirk, Tim Considine and Annette Funicello, with…

Epcot: Lotso Joins the F&G Festival - VIDEO

Some days ago, Disney has uploaded a nice video showing how they put Lotso (Toy Story 3's antagonist) just at the entrance of Epcot, in occasion of the 18th Flower & Garden Festival. Enjoy!:

Here's a photo of Lotso (copyright of OTPN):

Check out the Super Moon tonight!

Yes, if in your country is still night, you will want to check out the moon! Indeed, today, after eighteen years, the moon's orbit will be even closer to the earth, making it look almost 20% bigger and brighter! Here's what CFNews 13 says about this very rare event, that is really great to see, no matter where we are:
Clear and dry weather will make for good viewing of this weekend's Super Moon. The "Super Moon" is part of the Perigee event, when the moon's orbit is closest to the planet. It's the closest the moon has been in 18 years, and provides a fantastic view, especially near sunrise and sunset. The moon rise time will be at 7:51 pm Saturday and set time at 7:45 am Sunday.
Here's a good picture that explains what is going on right now:

And, here you are some LIVE pictures of the moon, from Orlando, FL (we took them just outside the window)! Take a look at how many details you can see:

Universal Studios update - The Renaissance has begun.

Renaissance. That's a big word to use for a theme park. But, if you are a theme parks fan, there's no other better word to describe the current situation of Universal Studios Florida. The park is beautiful, no doubt on that, and it doesn't have nearly as many problems as some of the other theme parks in the area (namely, Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park). But (yes, there's a but!) some of the areas and attractions of the park have been either left abandoned, or are currently misused.
And that's where we use the word Renaissance! Indeed, some areas of the park will receive a rehab (either small or big) or a completely new attraction!
First of all, as you've heard earlier this week, Jimmy Neutron Nicktoon Blast is closing forever on August 18th, 2011. That's one of the best news for the park, as the ride was really one of the worst of the park, for a lack of a story-line and for the unimaginative use of a simple simulator, as the ride's vehicle. The n…

Baby cheetah arrives at Busch Gardens Tampa

A very pleasant news from the Busch Gardens Tampa Blog: a new baby cheetah has arrived at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and he's really beautiful! He looks like a cat! Take a look: ___________________________________________________________________
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Welcomes New Baby Cheetah Young Cat Receives Round-The-Clock Care By Park’s Animal Care Experts
Busch Gardens’ animal care team has something new keeping them up at night – a four-week-old baby cheetah that requires regular feedings and 24-hour care.

The new cub was born at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens to a mother who wasn’t able to care for him. When zoo keepers saw that the baby was not eating and having trouble gaining weight, they made the decision to hand-raise him. Now, at a little more than two pounds, the cub is eating well, getting stronger and eagerly exploring his new home.

Advisory #1 - Magic Kingdom hours extended

Just a small news for the Magic Kingdom:
Magic Kingdom Park will now be closing at 1:00am Friday, March 18, 2011 instead of closing at midnight as previously scheduled.

Hop show at Universal Studios Florida

A new mini-show/ meet-and-greet has recently debuted at Universal Studios Florida. Just a few weeks ago, a stage has been set up next to the New York Streets area. There, you can meet the characters of the new Universal movie "HOP". Take a look at these two pictures that show some of them (the chickens are creepy):

We will go to Universal Orlando today, and hopefully we will be able to take some pictures of the show (the above pictures are not ours). See you soon, with more info about this new entertainment addition!

Grand Floridian to add a DVC building

A new blueprint has been leaked in the internet, and it involves a new section of the Grand Floridian resort & Spa. This new section would be a Disney Vacation Club area. Take a look at the blueprints, that are subject to the copyright of the source (sdavey41 on Flickr) and of the Walt Disney World resort:
According to Edward, a poster on WDWMagic, the beach in front of this new section of the hotel will be extended, to accommodate the new buildings. What do you think? There's not enough DVC on property?
