Joyland Theme Park - Plagiarism at its Finest

China is recently being invaded by theme parks, and that's really great to hear. But unfortunately, among these new theme parks, we have at least one that is planning to build some rides, attractions and buildings that are... way too familiar to Orlando residents and visitors...

This is Joyland (click on the link to go to the official theme park site).

Let's examine some of their artworks for the park (that is currently well under construction), and see how many similarities we can find. First artwork (click on it to see the details):

As you can see here, there are two subtle plagiarisms, and one really obvious:

1) The Genie with Aladdin on the flying Carpet is a Disney character. No doubt on that.
2) The ship on the building is very, very reminiscent of the Toon Lagoon building at Islands of Adventure (the photo of the link is subject to the copyright of the Theme Park Critic):
3) What does the logo of the park remind you? The one of IOA, right?

New artwork, please.

As you can see here, they just copied and pasted the two SeaWorld Orlando signature rides: Journey to Atlantis and Kraken.

Want more? This new artwork says it all:

Yep, here we have the most plagiarism that in any other previous "land" of the park:

1) They have the same exact entrance as Seuss Landing;
2) They have the Circus McGurkus;
3) They also have the Caroseussel;
4) The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley train Ride too;
5) If I ran the zoo (kids area);
6) They even plan to have... AQUATICA??

Those are all the references to Orlando that we could find, but we guess that there should be even more references to other North-American theme parks.
With that being said, the park is going to be beautiful (if they follow the artworks closely), but they will incur in very serious problems (if they follow the artworks closely!). Way to go for originality! Oh, well...

  2. I completely agree with you, Bigfoots. The site of the park is one of the best I've ever seen. Really nice musics and graphics. Shame that they didn't come up with completely new ideas, instead of copying other theme parks...

  3. I went to look and I heard a song that sounded almost exactly like "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid--even with bubble sounds! Too funny.

  6. Anyone else see MANTA in that last photo!?! But to be honest, I'm pretty sure they literally went to Google maps and copy/pasted the Kraken and Journey to Atlantis pictures

  8. BB1646,
    Before criticizing others for putting an "s" at the end of a word, you should learn how to properly spell "a lot". ;)
