Dining Cancellation Fees to Be Temporarily Waived at the Walt Disney World Resort

As severe weather conditions are expected to impact the Central Florida area in the coming days, the Walt Disney World Resort confirmed that Guests are currently not being charged dining cancellation fees at any of the on-site restaurants.

While dining cancellation fees will be waived until further notice, be sure to reach out to the Walt Disney World Resort to confirm as fees may be reinstated at any time.


According to the latest update, Hurricane Ian has bumped slightly east with maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph with higher gusts. Rapid strengthening is expected during the next day or so, and Ian is forecast to become a major hurricane tonight or early Tuesday when it is near western Cuba and remain a major hurricane over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles. Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area in the lower Florida Keys and are possible in the watch area in the middle Florida Keys on Tuesday. Tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area along the Florida west coast by Tuesday evening.

Ian's outermost squally rain bands will likely begin to impact the Central Florida area between 11 a.m.-Noon on Wednesday and pivot south to north and then southwest to northeast as the storm passes by to the west through early Thursday afternoon. Sustained wind will likely increase Wednesday afternoon to 20-30 mph with gusts 30-40 mph, which will continue through Wednesday evening. Sustained winds and gusts will ramp up Wednesday night, with sustained winds 30-40 mph and occasional gusts reaching 40-55 mph for all of Thursday morning and into Thursday afternoon.

Tropical depression sustained winds and gusts will likely continue later Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening before gradually subsiding Thursday night. The more organized rain bands will produce intense rain rates >1"/hr from early Wednesday afternoon through late Thursday morning. Rainfall accumulation of 3-6" are likely, with isolated totals up to 7" possible.
