Disney Develops Earth-Friendly Uniforms for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Cast Members
With just a few weeks to go until the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction, Walt Disney World Cast Members are immersing themselves into the world of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” where the Wonders of Xandar pavilion’s story is set. Inside, Guests will meet emissaries of Nova Corps, whose mission is to showcase their home planet, Xandar, and their history, culture, and technology in EPCOT’s first “other world” showcase pavilion.
Of the many details we’ve learned about the planet Xandar and its people, one we can certainly appreciate is the importance Xandarians place on the life-giving waters of their home planet. In fact, those life-giving waters were the inspiration behind a very important detail of Wonders of Xandar – the uniforms of the Nova Corps themselves are designed and created from sustainable features.
These emissaries of Xandar are wearing uniforms that are incredibly Earth-friendly – or, since Xandarians call our planet “Terra,” it may be more accurate to say “Terra-friendly” instead! With deep blue hues honoring the abundant waters of Xandar and a red accent symbolizing their strength, 70% of each uniform’s base fabric is made from recycled content. Even the tiniest uniform detail was chosen with reducing the “Xandarian footprint” top of mind. Those metal buttons located along the shoulder pads? You guessed it! They’re also made from 75% recycled metal.
Guests visiting the Wonders of Xandar pavilion will also notice the insignia on the Nova Corps uniforms. The three-armed star insignia designates their rank as Denarian, and each insignia is made from 95% recycled PVC. Not only are these uniforms sustainable, they are perfectly suited for the hot climate of Florida here on Terra. With vents and a lightweight feel, emissaries will be comfortable while performing their interstellar mission.
