Animal Kingdom Update: Huge Floating Mountains (Part 2)

Welcome to the second part of this new Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park photo-report. Part 2 of this update can be found by clicking on this link.
In the previous part of this update we took a look around many lands of the park, focusing on the Oasis, Discovery Island, DinoLand U.S.A., as well as the future Pandora: The World of AVATAR. Now we will shift our attention to Asia, where work related to the new Rivers of Light nighttime show continues to take place.

As you will see, a lot of progress has been done on the left side of the new amphitheater:

The configuration of the seating area is now easier to notice:

The middle of the new amphitheater:

Moving on to the right (south):

Notice the new foliage added to the small island in the middle of the lake:

A crane was being used to work on a nearby area:

Another new building can now be spotted among the trees:

And that is all for now. Before concluding, remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. Thank you for your support, and see you again soon.

  3. I'm sure Disney MUST have thought of this, but what do you think the plans are for Expedition Everest while Rivers Of Light is showing? Presumably they won't close the ride, but surely the noise from the track/screams could impact the spectacle?

  4. During World of Color in California Adventure, they shut down all the attractions near the show. I would expect the same to happen here - about 30 minutes to an hour before show time (which I would guess would be parking closing time), Expedition Everest will close each night.

  5. I was the last comment - 'park' closing time, not 'parking'.

  6. With the relativity small looking seating area, I have a feeling the show will be shown multiple times each night...at least at first. World of Color was shown 3-4 times a night when it first opened because the crowds were massive. Going to be interesting to see how they handle the crowds. Right now, crowds at night are SO small. However, once the show opens, that will change.

Also going to be interesting how they handle Everest. The seats enter and exit right around the entrance to the ride which will be a congestion nightmare. However, if they close the ride, that won't leave much for guests to do in the park since Avatar won't be open yet.

Still, I am really looking forward to what they pull off with the show. It unfortunately doesn't look anything like World of Color. The platforms for the fountains were created well before the seating area. Typically seating is one of the last things that get worked on. Makes me wonder if they are planning on doing something like Tokyo Disney Seas Fantasmic with multiple massive floating boats that change throughout the show.
