Reminder: The Magic of Disney Animation Closing Today

As previously announced, the last day of operation for The Magic of Disney Animation (a Disney's Hollywood Studios attraction comprising different exhibits) will be July 12 and the last day of operation for The Animation Gallery will be in late August. This closure is needed to make way for a new experience currently in development. Additional details about what’s coming to this space should be revealed soon (rumors point to possible announcements during the D23 Expo).

Here you are a few more details about this closure, including the relocation of some meet-and-greets:

Will Mickey Mouse still appear in the Park after July 12?
Guests will be able to meet Mickey Mouse near Streets of America (across from Studio Catering Company) until his new home in Animation Courtyard is complete later this summer.

Where will Guests find Minnie Mouse?
Minnie Mouse will be joining her fellow Disney Pals at Center Stage (the park's hub).

Where will Guests find Hiro and Baymax?
Hiro and Baymax will no longer be greeting Guests as they are heading back to San Fransokyo to work in the lab at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

Will the Animation Academy be part of the new experience when it opens?
No. Animation Academy will not be part of the new experience.

Is this related to the work happening near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror
No, the two projects are not related. The work being done near those two attractions is for a new flex space to be used for special events. A completely different experience is being developed for the space currently occupied by The Magic of Disney Animation.

Thank you to all the Cast Members who have worked at The Magic of Disney Animation over the years.

  1. It's quite unfortunate... I loved that art class. I only hope that this will be a part of the Pixar land expansion that's been rumored for quite a while.

  2. The art class was amazing, even if those stools were the most uncomfortable things ever. My kids and I would spend hours drawing and going back around to get in line. It's just not the same following along with youtube at home.
