Aquatica Orlando Hosts World's Largest Swimming Lesson

On Thursday, June 18, Aquatica Orlando hosted the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. SeaWorld's Aquatica was among the 900 aquatic centers, pools and waterparks that hosted a swim lesson to help break last year’s world record of 36,564 lesson participants and help save lives. Beating last year’s record at the water park, 149 children took part in the record setting swim lesson that took place at Big Surf Shores, one of Aquatica's expansive wave pools.

After completing the certified swim lesson each participant received an official certificate and admission to enjoy Aquatica for the rest of the day.

U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame member and three-time Olympic gold medalist, Ambrose “Rowdy” Gaines was onsite to lend a helping hand with the lesson. “Today was a great day and I was happy to offer a helping hand and kick-off today’s lesson. The goal of this event is to draw attention to accidental drowning’s and to encourage swimming lesson programs,” said Ambrose “Rowdy” Gaines.

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death of children ages 1-14. Research shows that if a child doesn't learn to swim before the 3rd grade, they likely never will. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson is designed to draw attention to this issue, and encourage participation in swimming lesson programs. Tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world united this today for the sixth year in a row to set a new Guinness World Record.

Aquatica has participated in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson for six years and values the importance of swimming lesson programs. “We enjoy hosting the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson every year and bringing attention to the importance of swimming lessons. Here at Aquatica we not only participate in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson but we also provide swim lessons for every skill level, “said Bryan Nadeau Vice President of Aquatica.
