First Phase of Magic Kingdom Hub Expansion Now Open

The first phase of the expansion of the Magic Kingdom Central Plaza area, or Hub, in front of Cinderella Castle officially opened today to Guests, offering additional seating outside Casey’s Corner and The Plaza restaurant and a new walkway. For this reason, beginning this evening (Friday, February 27, 2015), the FastPass+ viewing location for Magic Kingdom fireworks will relocate from the Rose Garden to the new Main Street Plaza Gardens area.

Here you are some photos of this beautiful expanded area. More photos will be posted soon:

UPDATE: More photos were just released a few minutes ago by the Disney Parks Blog:

When completed later this year, the expanded Central Plaza area will include a new perimeter path along with a lush garden environment themed to the style of gardens associated with European castles and chateaus.

  1. This looks awefull, ugly lamps and poles with spotlights on them. Is this the best imaginering could come up with?
Also the light concrete basins with the dark metal fountains in them aren't right and clash.

  2. Walter - I eagerly await the opening of your theme park with its perfect, uncompromising design.

In the meantime, no reason for you to suffer any further at the hands of Disney: just quit going.

  3. Personally, I think the area looks stunning and appears to be seamlessly integrated with the area. Can't wait to check it out in person in two weeks!!

  4. I think it's very pretty. It will provide a lot more room to stand for fireworks.

  5. One silly question: is that real grass or a kind of carpet?

  7. The surface is Fieldturf, the same great quality material used in NFL stadiums.

  9. I'm curious to know whether the posts used for lighting are temporary. Any thoughts or rumors on this? I think the entire area looks amazing. I'm looking forward to taking the family in about a month.

  10. Poles are permanent. Looks worse in still photos than it does in video. Just be sure to take your shots down main street
