A Look Around Universal Orlando's New "Green Bridge"

"Green is Universal!" That is the motto of the Universal Orlando Resort, which continuously tries to keep nature always in mind while building new attractions, shows, buildings, and... yes, even walkways and bridges. In fact, just a few days ago, a new "green bridge" opened to Guests walking between Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort and the parks. We were able to take a look around this new (and amazing!) walkway at dusk. Come and join us:

New pedestrian crossing leading to the new bridge:

From the parking lot of Cabana Bay, this new structure appears to be partially hidden by trees:

A gate separates the parking lot from the bridge. As expected, the gate is left open to all Guests during the day, but after a certain hour (usually 10 p.m.) it is only accessible using the hotel keys:

The Cabana Bay side has a ramp and stairs. The ramp looks (and feels!) endless:

Taking the stairs is much quicker, but the ramp is a must, as some Guests may be using wheelchairs:

The view from the top of the stairs:

The bridge itself is gorgeous. It feels like walking in a garden:

This feeling will become even more obvious after the foliage will be fully grown:

There are plenty of trees on the bridge:

The ramp going down:

This walkways eventually joins the Royal Pacific Resort walkway:

New palm trees:

Let's now go back up, as if we were returning to Cabana Bay from the parks:

A bench to relax:

Lights on:

Since we are in the area, check out the current status of the Sapphire Falls Resort project:

Still just dirt being moved around:

Plenty more plants will soon be planted around the area:

And that is all for now. As usual, we would like to thank you for following us. See you again soon!

  1. Where does the other end of the bridge terminate? There don't appear to be sidewalks on either side of the street that lead to cabana bay according to google maps. Have they been added? Is the bridge just there to avoid saphire falls construction? Maybe I need a map.

  2. Do I see "Kongstruction" behind that pedestrian crossing leading to the new bridge?

  3. I used the bridge and walkway while I was there last week. The path leads all the way from the bridge to the Royal Pacific hotel and its walkway to the parks and citywalk. It is a good walk and the benches are going to be well used along the way.

  4. I really love the green bridge. Universal keeps true on it's conservation message and on top of that provides beauty to their guests.
When the Sapphire Falls Resort is finished guests can walk to that resort and take a boat to the parks but I think it's great you can walk the whole resort if you want to.

Maybe you can go back when it's a bit more light and not around twilight?

  5. Will the boats from either of the new resorts link up with the existing route from the Royal Pacific and, if so, what impact might that have on that service ?
At present the boats start and terminate at the RP. However, if the other Resorts link up then it might lead to overcrowding and/or a reduced or slower service. That's why the option of being able to walk to the Parks is much needed and this bridge is a great addition.

  6. No boats for the new resorts. Just walking paths for now. We will we what happens when the water park goes in. Still no boats but could be a tram or train.

  7. That's odd. According to the link on this page the new Sapphire Falls Resort will have waterway and Bus transportation to the Parks and entertainment areas.

  8. Bob you're right. I was only referring to Cabana Bay. Sapphire Falls WILL have boat transportation. Apologies.

  9. If you look at the official page:
    https://www.universalorlando.com/Hotels/Loews-Sapphire-Falls-Resort.aspx

... At the bottom it says:
"Complimentary shuttle buses and walking paths to both Universal Orlando® theme parks and Universal CityWal"

No mention of boats. However, if you look at the picture above on that page, it clearly shows a boat transport.

  10. No big deal but it does actually mention the boats on the Sapphire Falls page. It says :

" There will be water taxi and shuttle access to all of the entertainment and dining options throughout Universal Orlando Resort. "

Unless they are on a separate loop then it might affect the existing timetable. But they will probably add more boats to the route.
