Downtown Disney: Disney Springs Project News (May 11-17)


The major Disney Springs project continues to bring a lot of construction and work all around the Downtown Disney area (the West Side, Pleasure Island, and the Marketplace are all affected). Due to all that is happening, we continue to share with you the latest news and updates (coming directly from the Walt Disney World Resort) regarding this project. Here is a snapshot of several projects underway this week at the Downtown Disney Area:


New work:
  • The highline has gone vertical on the West Side.
  • The Marketplace archway at Entrance 1 was removed to make way for Buena Vista Drive expansion work.
  • A new wall configuration is in place at the Lilly Pad near Fulton’s Crab House and Portobello to prepare for The Landing. The Portobello front patio won’t be accessible starting this week, as part of this project. This work is expected to be complete this summer.
  • Look for modifications at Keith’s Park, including a new wall configuration in early May.
In progress:
  • The Marketplace bus loop is closed from midnight to noon for enhancements. Cast and Guests should use Pleasure Island bus loop prior to noon.
  • Buena Vista Drive roadwork is underway.
  • E, F and G parking lots modifications continue.
  • Work continues on phase 1 of a series of elevated spaces along the West Side promenade.
  • Watercraft routes have temporarily changed as work on the Marketplace Causeway continues.
  • Saratoga Springs Resort bridge construction continues.
