Disney Springs Project Update - January 2014

This evening we have a quick update on the status of some of the work being done in the Downtown Disney area related to the Disney Springs project (no photos for now. We'll post those tomorrow).
If you continue reading this post, you will find a short list of some of the upcoming work to be done specifically in the Marketplace and Pleasure Island areas of this ever-changing entertainment district. Enjoy:

Beginning January 6:

- Keith’s Park hardscape changes
The walkways, planters and benches in Keith’s Park (the official name of the area between LEGO Imagination Center and T-REX Cafe) is being remodeled to make way for the future Marketplace Causeway bridge. Expect to see walls in the area, but all of the surrounding businesses will still be accessible.
- Access changes to Pleasure Island
As the work on Pleasure Island—future home of The Landing—continues, Bridge 4 (the area known as the “top of the hill”) will be closed, along with the nearby restrooms. Guests can still use the new pedestrian walkway to get to and from Pleasure Island and Paradiso 37, Raglan Road and the Pleasure Island watercraft landing will all remain available to Guests.

Later this month:

- Concrete work on the Lilly Pad begins
Concrete work on the Lilly Pad kicks off this month. This work will prepare for the opening of The Landing in early 2015. While construction walls will be in place throughout the area, they will be shorter than normal to make it easier for Guests to navigate through the walkways.
- Marketplace Co-Op project begins
Work on the new Marketplace Co-Op begins Jan. 27 in place of Team Mickey. This shop with shops within it will open later this spring and will showcase new and innovative Disney retail concepts.

That is all for now. We will continue to keep you up-to-date in regards to this and other construction projects.
