Hollywood Studios Update: Still Waiting... (PART 4)

Welcome to PART 4 of this new Hollywood Studios photo-report (PART 3 can be found HERE).

It is now time to continue our tour of Sunset Boulevard:

Time to leave the park:

Before doing that, we noticed that the Mickey Mouse figure located on top of Crossroads of the World was very, very dirty:

A closer look:

Really bad:

A look around Sid Cahuenga's Antiques and Curious shop:

New MyMagic+ kiosks:

They are themed!:

Inside the shop itself:

One of our favorites:

  1. Its a shame this park should be happening, its geared up for all movies. To bad John Carter or The Lone Ranger didn't make it, it would have been a great addition.
I agree that Pirates attraction is on the lame side.
The studios needs another coaster (Outside Hopefully!!! Maybe Carsland)
I also think a monster's inc attraction would fit in perfect here!
    Oh yea almost forget!
    GET A NEW PARADE

  2. Instead of Carsland, I'd think a fully themed Pixar Studios land would fit better. Themed after the actual studio, with various rides based on their movies. Pixar Place is such a dinky hallway. Carsland looks good, but I'd be disappointed to see Hollywood Studios just become a clone of California Adventure.(not that that is a bad park, not at all.)

  3. I like Hollywood Studios, but it could use a couple of new rides. I hope Cars Land is developed. You really only need to see that stunt show once, as well as Indiana Jones. The Backlot Tour was extremely busy in mid July. The park that desperately needs improvement is Epcot. There really is nothing to do there unless you want to eat internationally. Animal Kingdom also could use some new thrill rides. I really think Avatar land is a bad idea. Other than the characters being blue, does anyone really remember the film?

  4. No Cars Land, please. I agree with Anonymous above in seeing a Pixar Studios land, where they could give you a fake-out tour of Pixar headquarters, and some other Pixar-themed attractions (although I don't know what else would really fit besides Toy Story Mania and maybe Monsters Inc).

Also, I think a Star Wars or Lucasfilm-themed land could give the other side of the park some much-needed help (and much-needed infusions of cash).

Also, yeah DHS is still one of my all-time favorite parks at WDW but it does need serious help, especially since Disney had focused so much on New Fantasyland as of recent to the detriment of every other WDW park, frankly.

  5. I don't get DISNEY at all. They spend money in a park that is already the number one visited in the world (Magic Kingdom). Is the new fantasyland nice? Yes, but was it needed? No.
That money could have went to Epcot or DHS or AK.
    I vote is Epcot.
They need something big, maybe the technology of Mystic Manor on a new ride about space, or weather!
    Something!

  6. You know, since Epcot is concerned with the land and seas, etc., why not create an ecological awareness ride using Wall-E as an example? It did have a good message about taking care of home. Disney could build it and re-release the movie. It makes a lot more sense than Avatar!

  7. Disney should bring back Mr Toads Wild ride but build it in Epcot in England. The story about drunk driving, getting hit by a train and going to hell, would resonate with the drinking around the world crowd.

  8. The world showcase and Future world both need attractions, i don't know what one needs it more

  9. Disney is too busy building timeshare units and new ticketing systems to worry about upgrading the actual attractions at there parks. Universal studios is were the new attractions are.

  10. My guess on New Fantasyland is that it was needed in part to add capacity to the park that is forced to close during the busiest times (and most profitable) times of the year. Having the extra room and attractions should legally allow them to have more people admitted in to the park to spend money.

  11. What you got to remember is that Magic Kingdom is the no1 park in the world so that's why they doing all theses upgrades and maintaince so it be all be finished by the time the mine train opens. The other 3 parks, both water parks and downtown Disney are just really there to take the pressure off the Magic Kingdom.

  12. I believe that updating Hollywood Studios is needed to keep it competitive. With Universals new offerings Disney needs to do something to keep it moving forward. While the addition of Cars Land would be great, I would rather see something different than a repeat of what is done in California. I believe that by changing up Cars Land, Disney could draw customers to both coasts. Disney should also look to expand and update other parts of the park. Right now the Back Lots tour is ripe for the picking. This ride is way past its expiration date. The removal of it will give Disney the added space it needs for a new land. Also, the Indiana Show should be updated a bit. It has been running for a long time and needs to have a new look and feel. Finally, Pixar should play a greater role in the update. This can include areas like Monsterland and Other offerings. I believe that by using Disney's unique and abilities Hollywood can become a great destination.
