Preview of New Pirates of the Caribbean Game at MK
The official Disney Parks Blog just released a new video that gives us a general idea of how the brand-new "Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Seven Seas" interactive game will work (the game will officially debut later this year in Adventureland, at the Magic Kingdom Park). Take a look:

Are you ready to experience a whole new pirate adventure?
Walt Disney Imagineering just shared a sneak peek at the new interactive quest, Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Seven Seas, which will debut at Magic Kingdom Park this summer. In the game, the fate of piracy in the Caribbean rests in the hands of new pirate recruits, who, armed with magic talismans and treasure maps, embark on five different pirate raids throughout Adventureland to collect valuable treasures, while Captain Jack Sparrow’s magic compass guides them.
Here, Imagineers Jonathan Ackley and Matt Beiler offer up a look at a few of the quest’s cool special effects.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Seven Seas will be included with Magic Kingdom Park admission and is open to guests of all ages. Now, which of you are ready to join the ranks of a new recruit?

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun. It's nice to see an attraction geared to boys as well as girls. Kim Possible was not for boys.

Attraction- something to do, not a ride. This is geared for young kids obviously. Lets not forget that this is the purpose of Disney World- not to entertain single adults over 18.

Walt Disney World is not "for young kids." it was designed, like Disneyland, to be a place for adults and kids to go together and not have the adults have to be sitting on a bench or passively watching their kids have a good time. That was the whole idea when Walt Disney was sitting on a bench watching his daughters on the carousel in Griffith Park and thought there should be a place where BOTH kids and adults could have fun. Honestly, wave a card and watch a cannon smoke and a treasure chest open up across the water? Compelling.
ReplyDeleteReally? Not for young kids? So the characters were developed for teenagers and adults? Of course the parks were designed for children AND their parents. Duh... What I meant was that this attraction is designed for young kids. I can see a five year old enjoying this attraction. Just because you are too old for it, doesn't mean it's not a good idea.
ReplyDeleteIt kills the more quiet corners of the park and change them into load obnoxius nothingness. If you can't see that you never realy enjoyed Disney parks.
ReplyDeleteYes you are right, this is for little kids, New Fantasy land is for little girls and that is how Disney is focussing more on special groups to target then what they did befor, targeting families. They are loosing indentity and it's just sad.
As a parent, I enjoy it when my kids have fun. Our trips to the World became ten times more enjoyable with the addition of children and I'm dreading the day when it goes back to how it was.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm just wired differently but at the end of each visit I am painfully aware that my kids will be just that much older on our next trip.
Kudos to Disney for adding just a little more atmosphere and theming, along with something fun. I can't wait to enjoy this, along with my kids, on our next visit.
Ok Imagineers lets go back and build some real rides

ReplyDeleteThese interactive games ARE attractions. They're just different kinds of attractions.
There's more to a Disney park than just rides and "E-Tickets", you know!
