Large WDW Permits Update - April 2013

Hello, and welcome to a new Walt Disney World Permit update. Today we have about 20 new permits to share with you. A few of them are related to projects that we are aware of, while others are quite interesting... Let's see:

At the very busy Transportation & Ticket Center, some work will be performed on the ticket booths:

In addition to that, Mickey's Gift Station (a small gift shop) will receive some attention:

At the Magic Kingdom Park, some work is scheduled to be done on the Baby Care Center of Main Street:

The Mad Tea Party attraction is also receiving a major refurbishment (photos coming soon):

Some plumbing work to be done on Splash Mountain:

At Epcot, work will be done in the "Living Seas Mericulture." Anyone knows what part of the building is that?:

The old Fountain View location is also currently being transformed into a Starbucks:

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, some work will be done inside (or around) some stores:

This is the store located inside the reproduction of the Carthay Circle Theater:

Minor work will also be done in the area right in front of the central plaza of the park (the hat is not involved):

The Backlot Express restaurant may receive some minor enhancements:

The restrooms near Star Tours 2 - The Adventures Continue will receive a refurbishment:

Work to be done on the Stage 1 Company Store:

At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, more new RFID-enabled touch points will be installed soon:

A few bridges connecting Discovery Island with other areas will receive some attention:

A permit regarding the new meet-and-greet location being built in the old Beastly Bazaar shop:

The Expedition Everest area may receive some TLC in some parts (nope, they are not fixing the Yeti, sadly):

The Restaurantosaurus quick service location (DinoLand U.S.A.) will receive some work:

Concrete replacement around the Boneyard play area:

Something will also be done on the park's parade building:

Downtown Disney's Fulton Crab House restaurant will receive some work:

Blizzard Beach's entrance area is also receiving some attention:

Disney hotels - permits regarding the main building of the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa have been filed:

Regarding the Kidani Village (the Disney Vacation Club addition to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge), it looks like some permits were filed, but we think they do not refer to any kind of work to be performed:

These permits are interesting, nonetheless:

That is all for now. See you in a few weeks for another update on the newest Walt Disney World permits!

NOTE: All the permits featured in this update were filed by the Walt Disney World Resort on the Orange County Comptroller website, and all of them are publicly accessible through the county's official website.

  1. Awesome. I love looking at this stuff. Thanks for digging through to find these.

Though some of the permits posted are not really new (the hub work for DHS, which the permits call Disney/MGM, Splash Mountain plumbing, Grand Floridian) as they are dated from the 90s.

How were you able to find them? I looked through the county's website but unfortunately couldn't find where the permits are.

  2. @Anonymous: Actually, all those permits were filed between April 8-18, 2013. I do agree with you that the dates on some of these permits definitely make them look very old...

Regarding the county's website, you have to click on the "Document Search" link, put one or more recording dates, and then search for "Walt Disney World." Try it!

  3. These are actually location plans to show the permitting officials where the work is to be completed and in some cases may be just using an existing plan which could account for the dates. The thing I noticed was that the MK baby station seems to be labeled wrong. Its been awhile since we used it, but I always though it was more towards the left under where the '90' is on the drawings. I just always remembered forking right at the little fountain and heading more behind Crystal Palace than the Casey's side of things.
