DinoLand U.S.A. Closing Early on April 23, 2013

Please, take note of the following advisory regarding DinoLand U.S.A at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park:

Please, be aware that DinoLand U.S.A. will close at 6 p.m. (one hour before the rest of the park) on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. The entire area will close early due to a convention activity. The regular park closing time is 7 p.m.

Thank you for your attention. We are quite sure very few people will even notice the earlier closure of this area.

  1. When I first read the title, I just notice DinoLand Closing. That would be too go to be true.

  2. Why do you like to take little swipes at WDW in your blog postings? That's not your job - just report the news. Not opinions.

  3. I'm sorry, Anonymous #2. You are right. It's just that DinoLand is one of those areas I definitely don't think has a "Disney Feel." I'm sure you will agree with me on that.

  4. Why shouldn't they be alowed to have an opinion? This site is not CNN.
The internet is a free place and with al the hard work OTPN they can bring the news as they see fit to bring it how they want.
And yes, Dinoland USA is awefull, cheap and should be re-themed asap.

  5. DinoLand is themed as a road side attraction from the 50's - it's supposed to be tacky looking. It's called "having a theme!"

  6. I also though the title said it was closing for good haha.

To Anonymous #2, why are you telling OTPN what is/isn't their job? Are you paying them to report the news for just you?

I for one am thankful that they provide this great resource, for free. It is their website and they can say whatever they want. Thanks for everything you do OTPN.

Again, DinoLand should be replaced with something more in-line with the detail at DAK.

On a side not, OTPN, have you thought about creating a new section compiling all your photos into categories of all the parks, rides, queues, shops, restaurants, etc. Something like PhotosMagiques for Disneyland Paris? You guys take great photography and I think if you did something like that it would be a success.

  7. That's a really great idea, Anonymous! I'm going to look into doing something like that. The only issue would be the lack of time, but it is certainly something I'd like to do. I would probably have to make it a separate website, though.

    Thanks again for your support!

  8. With it being said that I do enjoy the hard work put into this blog...every now and then I get annoyed when certain universal/disney rides or attractions get put down like twister, dinoland, terminator 2 the disney studios backlot tour etc...just because the runner of the site is spoiled like a child and wants disney to replace these attractions. I'm pretty sure Disney and Universal don't pay much attention if any to what you think of what changes should be done in their parks.

This may seem a bit harsh, I do really appreciate the hard work, but don't like when you hint that certain attractions should be replaced and you act as everyone feels the same way. I LOVE the backlot tour, twister, T2 3D, Indiana Jones Spectacular and many other attractions that you seem to desperately want replaced.

    Appreciate what you have

  9. And to add to my previous comment...no hard feelings...just consider urging disney to EXPAND for more attractions and not replace the attractions that have made all of our childhoods memorable just because some are tired of them and want something new. Its ok to want something new but don't take away from what built and made disney great.

  11. @Last Anonymous: I don't think that wanting DinoLand U.S.A. replaced is a sign of being spoiled by Disney. As a Guest, I expect Disney to have the best attractions and themed areas (for the price everyone pays and fore the company's high reputation). Of course, I would never expect all the areas to have huge E-Ticket rides and over-the-top, multi-million dollar theming in every single corner of the park. That being said, DinoLand U.S.A. is not any better than the local traveling amusement parks. It feels very cheap, and you can be sure that it was just quickly put together to add some attractions in a park that opened with very few rides.

Regarding your second comment, I certainly agree with you. I would much prefer to see more new areas being developed before seeing a replacement of an existing area.

  12. As the person who you are responding to, I agree, sorry for sounding harsh that wasn't my intention, I just don't want to see all the rides I grew up with go away. I agree dino land should be revamped because it does look cheap...I just DON"t want to see the ride Dinosaur go anywhere.

Along with, the backlot, Indiana Jones Spec., Great movie ride, bugs life 3d, E.T. Terminator 3D, & Twister.

I wish they'd bring back the classics Honey I shrunk the audience, JAWS, Kongfrontation.

  13. I understand. I too miss some great rides that were removed. I also miss some rides that I never got to see in person (Kongfrontation, Horizons, World of Motion, Cranium Commenad, etc...).
