Hollywood Studios Update: Minor Additions (PART 2)

Welcome to part 2 of this new Disney's Hollywood Studios photo-report (PART 1 can be found here).

Let's now continue our photo-tour of the park:

We are now in one of the nicest areas of the park, which is (sadly) also the area with the least amount of attractions of the entire park:

I personally love this corner. It looks extremely realistic too:

Phineas and Ferb were not meeting or greeting later in the afternoon:

Mater and McQueen were still available to meet guests, though:

Star Tours 2 is not really pulling in a lot of people... It has been open for a bit more than a year, and it already has incredibly low wait times:

Still, it is a nice attraction:

Nothing to see here. Another empty building:

A Stunt show with few stunts... and a lot of talking:

The beautiful Echo Lake:

I'm sorry if I sound negative in this update, but there's really a lot that needs to be done in this park. Even the American Idol Experience has become obsolete:

...and then there's the hat...

The studio booth that was recently located in this spot has been gone for a while now:

It has definitely been removed for good:

You can see that this section was recently repaved:

The majestic Chinese theater:

These guys can do wonders with live fireworks shows. Don't believe me? Then check this out!

A busy Sunset Boulevard:

The Sunset Ranch Market has some really good quick service locations (except for the pizza stand):

I recommend the Italian Panini at Catalina Eddie's. It was very good:

The mysterious Hollywood Tower Hotel:

Time to move on!:

Let's now check out FANTASMIC!

The faux mountain needs to be repaired in some spots:

Yes, this is definitely not good show:

Two new hosts now entertain guests for about half an hour before the first show (that takes place at 9:00 p.m.). There are no hosts before the second show at 10:30 (thankfully...):

This show is still great, even though the fountains could receive some tender loving care:

I definitely don't want to see it leaving the Studios. Absolutely. It has to stay, and be upgraded.

And, as always, the time has come to write the words "THE END." Thanks for viewing, and have a great day.

  2. As always, THANK YOU for the many updates you do. I am a huge theme park fan and Orlando is my favorite place. I completely agree with you that Hollywood Studios needs some serious help and plenty of new additions (would be great if they did it in the same way they upgraded California Adventure spending a billion dollars-not holding my breath though). My family and I will be at WDW next month. Can't wait!

  3. Your comments where spot on. This park has some amazing theming and attractions but there is to much uglyness and horrible experiances that puls it down to below medeocer. With enough money and love this park could be awesome, but it's not.
    Thank you for the update.

  4. Great update!
After Fantasyland is done, Hollywood Studios must be next. It has some awesome attractions and incredibly themed areas but it needs an expansion project like California Adventure. Maybe not as expansive, but just as drastic.

  5. I don't get why Star Tours 2.0 doesn't get huge crowds. I experienced it 5 times for the first time a few weeks ago. It is a remarkably well-done ride.

  6. Great update! I knew that HS was lacking in attractions, but pointing it out really gave notice LOL. What about that rumor on the soundstage next to TSM becoming a Monsters Inc attraction? Also, I agree that some aspect of Carsland could be brought to the park as well. Not sure if I'd want TOO many Pixar things at one park, although I'm sure Imagineering would excel in what ever they create. Just rambling here with my thoughts.

  7. I agree with the sorry state of the park - and don't get me started on the hat! Disney needs to shut it down and do a complete overhaul of the park! It is definately inferior to Universal.

  8. Star Tours 2 doesn't really tell you up front about the multiple ride variations... if they did, it might be more of a reason to re-ride (unless you're a Disney geek, you wouldn't know about that). They should have worked on that aspect more... I'm sure whatever ride has random sequences in the future will make it more obvious.

  9. Those Fantasmic hosts... *groans*. I love Disney, I expect sugar and spice and all things nice etc, but those high-pitched, repetitive, pointless, mind numbing excuses for 'entertainers' at the Fantasmic show made me feel like spewing.

Maybe being a Brit it's just another of those little quirks you guys have that I don't quite get, but it was so cheap and poorly done.

  10. This park really needs help, I've been saying this for years! They need to bring it, especially with Universal working on more Harry Potter and Transformers, they should make this park for more of the thrill seekers, maybe introduce something Nightmare Before Christmas, or Villains themed, like a "grown up" Halloween experience, like Horror nights. They should taken that money they wasted on John Carter and invested here! Come Imagineers, give us some new adventures to look forward to here! Oh an "Up" house/ ride would be so cool! Or maybe focus on Marvel, that's a huge moneymaker

  11. DHS is lacking the Disney Touch. No Disney Park Should Ever Have Empty Buildings. A. The Park Needs to get a classic ride that has nothing to do with PIXAR. Also get rid of the Indiana Stunt Show and add a Indiana Jones Roller coaster, it doesn't have to be like the one in Disneyland, but please not the one in Paris!
Also once and if they get the monster's inc roller coaster ride they should be done with pixar for a while. DHS will never get CARSLAND, Disney will make Carsland original to DCA. They should do something different for the backlot tour, something original to DHS.
Oh ya one more thing, get rid of the HAT

  12. Great update, as usual. I love how with all your Hollywood Studios updates you always include a photo of Stage 1 with the marquis that there is a Hot Set getting ready for their new production. Classic!

  13. Epic is far too popular to get rid of. I had heard YEARS ago that they wanted to build the Indy ride at DHS. Never came about though.

As for Star Tours... It always had short lines. The ride is basically the same (an enclosed simulator) so even an upgrade wouldn't change the popularity much.

Unfortunately they don't have any truly outstanding attractions like Spider-Man or the Hulk Coaster or Harry Potter. I hope they'll upgrade the park after Fantasyland is complete. But with 4 parks, 2 water parks and scores of resorts they might not feel it's all that necessary to upgrade DHS to compete with Uni's measly 2 parks.

  14. let's get her back to what she was designed for. You know....filming again. Put back the full production studio. Remember when the backlot tour was NOT a joke? I miss the good old days. I'd love to see another coaster too.
