Islands of Adventure Update: Aggro Circus Gone, more

On today's photo update, we are going to check out some areas of Universal's Islands of Adventure, to check out, as usual, what has been added (or removed), what has changed, and in general, what has been done in the park since our previous update.

We usually start with a view of the park's signature lighthouse, Pharos, but today we'll start with a photo of the arch located right after the entrance of the park, that separates the fantasy... from the reality:

The sign of the "Lucky Monkey" was not working:

The wait times were not bad at all:

The One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish ride was temporarily down, due to technical difficulties:

The snack cart is no longer situated next to Circus McGurkus:

The Oh! The Stories You'll Hear show is once again taking place inside the Circus:

Green Eggs and Ham was closed:

The sign really needs to be repainted... again:

Some survey were taking place just near the entrance to the Lost Continent. That's unusual, as surveys are generally offered near the park's exit:

They're definitely thinking about the future of the Lost Continent:

Mythos was awfully moldy:

A panoramic view of Sindbad's Village:

Dragon Challenge is still running only one train at a time, due to the recent accidents that even caused one guest to lose an eye:

One at a time:

No dueling here...

Fortunately, it is not called Dueling Dragons anymore (even though that was a far better name for the ride, in our opinion):

They have now installed a small set of lockers near the loading area, in case you have loose items with you. Universal doesn't want to risk anymore. Guests' safety always comes first:

The new path is being built near Jurassic Park's entrance. It will make it easier for guests, and add space:

Triceratops Encounter was not available:

The park was really empty. This was the queue for Jurassic Park's River Adventure:

Renovated water blasters have been installed near Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges:

They look great:

The rotating comic strip was not working:

Photo Funnies... never noticed this facade before. You can visit a theme park thousands of times, and still not get all the details of the theming that surrounds you. That's one of the many reasons why we love them:

No more Aggro Circus... and this time, it may be gone for good!:

They completely removed all the components of the show, including the ramps and the big, circular globe, where motorcycles and bikes used to perform stunts:

In the past two years, they used to leave all those things in the theater, waiting for the next holiday weekend to reopen the show. This time, everything is gone... Goodbye, Aggro Circus:

The Hulk, greener than ever:

It was definitely not a crowded day, and we really enjoyed it. An entire parking lot was closed to the public. That's a good sign... for guests:

And that concludes our latest Islands of Adventure update. Thanks for watching!

  1. I just want to add a HUGE thanks to a couple of updates for the island you don't particularly like. It's brilliant as there are a couple of changes you've covered and I've much more respect for you guys for informing as opposed to opining about this area today. It is sad the dragons aren't duelling (but obviously necessary for now) & the old name probably was better, just not quite thematically right for now. Thanks again.

  3. Thank you so much for covering more than you usually do. We all appreciate this very much as well as your usual great posts. I never got the full info that the guest's eye incident was that bad. That's a real shame. Interesting picture of the new road expansion. Is most or the forest area still around it? It's very important thematically and I'd be glad to know most of the "Forbidden Forest" is still there. Thanks for any info. I think it would be neat if they tied this area into the story. Thanks a ton for your updates!

  4. "Guests' safety always comes first"

May I just say, HA, HA, and for good measure, HA. Until Universal fixes the abysmal lighting issue in the queue for Dragon Challenge which I believe has caused a great more injuries to people, I won't believe a WORD of that line.
