Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room - Photos/Videos

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room is finally back at the magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World. We have been waiting for almost 8 months for this. And, here we are today. The show is finally open, and guests are flooding to see the original Enchanted Tiki Room show.

It was a real pleasure for us to see this renovated show. We never had the opportunity of seeing the original Tiki Room show before, as it was gone by 1998, when (sigh!) Iago and Zazu took over the show, adding the "Under New Management" line to the show's title, and replacing Walt Disney's original show (how dare they do something like that?). Today, we'll be checking out the entire show with two videos (the pre-show and the main show), and we'll also some pictures of the area.

As we approached the Enchanted Tiki Room, we saw this humongous line, that stretched all the way to the entrance of the Magic Carpets over Agrabah:

Fortunately, after a while the line got much smaller, as they made people go in for the pre-show:

The new sign is absolutely great, and blends beautifully with the rest of the area. It looks like it has been there since 1971:

This is a very nice change, especially when we think that we previously had to deal with this!:

Fortunately, now the "Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management" show has been archived into the "Best-to-forget Disney attractions" folder.

The wait-time sign is the same that was used for the old show:

A view of the rear of both signs:

The outside structure has not been changed:

Upon entering, guests are greeted by a brand-new sign that directs them:

There's also a new sign for guests with special needs:

The whole pre-show room seems to have been freshened up:

Guests were carefully listening to the pre-show:

The show was full during the whole day:

The pre-show area seems to be exactly the same as before, but it is not. Indeed, new LED lights have been installed in the area surrounding the waterfall (they are much more visible during the evening:

Now, is finally time to see a video of the full pre-show! Enjoy:

If you have seen the original 1971 pre-show, you may have noticed that it is exactly the same. The only difference it the quality of the audio, which incredibly great, despite the age of the show. Does it work with today's audience? We noticed that at first, not many people understood what was going on, but after a while, you could hear some of them chuckle, especially with all the interesting sounds that Clyde was mimicking.

After the pre-show, everything continues as usual. You are told to wait just a few seconds, and then you're directed inside the Tiki Room:

Let's take a look inside:

As you can see, there's no fountain in the center of the room. There's now a tall, themed flower bed:

Since it was impossible to take pictures with flash, we'll post some official pictures taken inside the attraction, from the Disney Parks Blog:

The show per se is very entertaining. It includes some special effects (especially at the end) that we really enjoyed. The show only lasts about 11-12 minutes, even though the original one lasted about 18 minutes. As you can imagine, some of the original segments of the show were cut, but the show was way too long at the time, and guests started to get out of the theater during the middle of the show. In this renovated version, new LED lights and a remastered audio make the show really, really great. But, enough with the words.

Here's the HD video of the full show:

So, what do you think? Isn't this a much better show? It feels great not to hear the annoying words of Iago and Zazu. In case you don't remember the former "Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management", you can find an HD Video of the complete show here.

To conclude, it is great to see coming back a great classic such as Walt's original Tiki Room.
We just hope that the attraction will not catch on fire again. This time, it doesn't need to. But, they're prepared, now:

JUST IN CASE.

Please, share your opinions with us!

  1. I don't see any signs for corporate sponsorship. Does Dole (or whomever) still sponsor this attraction.

  2. I can't wait to see this! We have also never seen the original -- just the New Management version. We have the Four Parks, One World cd at home with the New Management song and it is so irritating when Iago interrupts the Tikki singing!

  3. Just a little correction... Walt Disney's name was never removed from the title of the show. At WDW, it had previously been titled the Sunshine Pavilion, The Enchanted Tiki Birds, and Tropical Serenade. Walt's name was added to the current show, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, to emphasize the return to the spirit of the original show that Walt himself had created.

  4. Thank you very much for the correction, James! We changed the wording of our post to eliminate any misunderstanding.
