As you know, the Starliner has been completely disassembled in these days, so now, as Legoland's officials promised, it is up for sale for any theme park that would like to buy it.

History for Sale: Oldest Wooden Roller Coaster Sits in Storage

The Starliner, built in 1963, was recently disassembled and is now sitting in storage waiting for a buyer, said Kim Isemann, director of sales and marketing for Legoland Florida.

Isemann said no one has made an offer to purchase it yet from the new theme park. She declined to state an estimated price for the ride.

The Starliner made its debut more than 40 years ago at the Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach. When the amusement park closed its doors in September 2004, many of the park's famous rides and attractions were sold.

Legoland acquired the famous roller coaster along with the rest of the park at the beginning of this year.

However, Isemann said, the ride was removed because it did not fit with Legoland's primary audience.
"Our park is targeted to a 2 to 12 (year old) demographic," she said. "It doesn't fit into our portfolio."

I really hope that someone will buy it, because it can't just sit there unused...
But, Screamscape had a good idea:

It’s just kind of sad it has become homeless again… a pity Disney can’t find room for it at Downtown Disney or at their Boardwalk area. Maybe Wild Adventures will step up to the plate to give it a home before it’s lost for good. No? Daytona Beach maybe?

Maybe in the Boardwalk area...
What do you think?

  2. Its not the oldest but its definitely a piece of history. A piece I hope Ed Hart the new operator for Kentucky Kingdom will buy it and move it to the park. Only thing is I don't know where it could be placed.
