Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort Update: Bridge Refurbishment & More (PART 1)
Good afternoon, and welcome to a new Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort photo-report. Today, we will take a quick look around the hotel to check what's new and to enjoy the exquisite theming of this moderate resort. Let's begin!
Like most Disney resorts built in the 90s, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort features multiple smaller buildings surrounded by green spaces and bodies of water. The newer additions (such as Riviera and Gran Destino) tend to be larger buildings:
The Disney Skyliner system really changed the look and feel of certain parts of the resort, but I think we can all agree that this was a much-needed addition. The Skyliner is actually our favorite Disney transportation system:
Caribbean Cay and the bridges connecting Old Port Royale to the Aruba and Jamaica neighborhoods closed for refurbishment on January 3. These bridges are currently expected to reopen on January 17. We were able to visit the resort just a few days before they closed:
Internal shuttles are currently available to Guests as they travel between their hotel rooms and Old Port Royale. Guests can also utilize the walking path around Barefoot Bay to reach the Aruba and Jamaica neighborhoods:
Taking a closer look at the bridge reveals that they were definitely in need of a bit of TLC:
Caribbean Cay is also closed as part of this refurbishment. Recreation activities traditionally held there have been relocated.
The playground located on Caribbean Cay is also temporarily closed:
