Disney Skyliner Gondolas Make First Test Runs at Walt Disney World

We’re beginning the week with another exciting Disney Skyliner milestone – the first guest cabins to make test runs back-and-forth between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Steve Pratt, associate project manager for Disney Skyliner, reflects on this exciting milestone. “After working on the towers and cables for about a year, it was really cool and exciting to see the first guest cabin cross over Victory Way and head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and back. We were able to slowly move two cabins through each tower, and soon we’ll have more cabins added and cycling on the line as we continue testing and training. Overall, this milestone was really fulfilling to all of us at Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World [Resort] who are bringing the Disney Skyliner to life.”

As you can see in the photos featured in this article, the gondolas remained covered during testing. But when operating later this fall, some cabins will feature beautiful graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters.

Disney Skyliner will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels—Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort, the new proposed Disney Vacation Club resort also opening in fall 2019.
