Disney Testing Minnie Van Service Connecting Airport to Select Resorts

Based on this feedback and the service’s popularity, the Walt Disney World Resort will be testing a limited route to Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Beginning Saturday, January 27, club level Guests at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will be able to use this service. Interested Guests may arrange this service through a Concierge Cast Member. Disney’s Magical Express provided by Mears will remain available for all Walt Disney World Guests.

  1. Mears Transportation charges $95 to go from Disney's Beach Club Resort to the Orlando International Airport. (That price is for a comparable vehicle that seats six guests.)

It is a lot more expensive. But, Disney knows that some people will pay extra for services with their name attached.

I'd bet this service will be popular with a small segment of guests: people booking concierge-level/suites and people traveling on expense accounts. Remember, Disney does a lot of convention business. If you're traveling on business, paying $150 for transportation to the airport wouldn't be a problem in most companies.

  2. I like the choice to exclusively use Chevy Traverses, but $150 for a cab ride to the airport?! No thanks. I know Disney World is only for the super-rich now, but that's just an unabashed money grab. Unless they're offering free meal service and foot massages (actually a pretty good idea) in there, there's literally no reason why anyone in their right mind should even consider it.
