Work on New Theater to Begin in November at the Magic Kingdom

Starting Saturday, October 28, the backstage parking lot located between Main Street U.S.A. and Tomorrowland (which is directly adjacent to the Guest bypass and is usually utilized on December 30-31 as an overflow area) will be closed to Cast Members as the Magic Kingdom will host a filming event. Once the filming concludes, that area will become an active construction zone for the previously-announced live entertainment theater coming to Magic Kingdom Park in the near future.

Here's an aerial photo of the area of the Magic Kingdom that will soon be home to the new indoor theater:

  1. They should bulldoze Tony’s Town Square for extra room ;)

  2. If Disney showed any form of intelligence they would add a rooftop viewing area to the building to sell overpriced tickets to guests who want to view the firework unobstructed in the company of sugary and fatty treats.

  3. Does this mean that the bypass won't be utilized anymore?

    3. As noted, the bypass will remain. Although unconfirmed, some people think that once the theatre is completed, the bypass will be open permanently.

That idea does make sense to me. They will need to move hundreds (or over a thousand?) guests into and out of the theatre fairly quickly. They'll need the bypass for that.

  4. If they were smart, they would completely theme the back area and put in back doors to some of the shops like Starbucks.
