Swan & Dolphin Resorts Update: New Lobby Takes Shape (PART 2)

Welcome to the second part of our new Swan & Dolphin resort photo-report. As usual, we invite you to also check out PART 1 of this update to enjoy even more photos taken around these hotels.
In the previous part, we toured the Walt Disney World Swan resort, focusing on the lobby, the Guest Services/Concierge area, the restaurants, and some of the outdoor areas. In addition to that, we begun walking around the Dolphin hotel, where the majority of the work is currently taking place.

The Dolphin:

Walls completely surround the lobby, which is being completely reimagined:

Check out some of the renderings showing how beautiful this area will look once walls come down!:

The check-in area is still open:

The entrance of the hotel is also receiving some attention:

One side of the entrance is hidden by temporary... curtains:

The other side is still visible. It is unclear whether that side is done or will soon be refurbished as well:

This is what Guests currently see while walking towards the lobby:

The bus stop had to be temporarily relocated due to all the construction that's going on:

This is the other Disney shop we talked about at the beginning of this update:

It's time to go back outside:

As you can see, many of the rooms on the first floor are being refurbished:

They are completely gutting the rooms:

What a beautiful area, isn't it?:

And it becomes even more beautiful at night:

  1. Looks incredible! Just curious - how can they use the Disney name when it's not owned by them? Just wondering.

    2. The construction was a complicated joint venture with Disney and the Tishman Group. Disney owns the land, retaining creative control of the design, and Tishman/Metlife have a 99-year lease. Here's an article if you want to read more about the history: http://blog.wdwinfo.com/2015/05/05/a-look-back-walt-disney-worlds-swan-and-dolphin-hotels/

  2. It's a shame buildings so beautiful inside, look so awful outside.

  3. The Swan and the Dolphin are very impressive hotels but so vast it's a bit overwhelming.
    Just saying................

  4. These hotels ruin the views inside Epcot. This is the whole reason Walt built in Florida - to prevent this visual intrusion. I'll never forgive Eisner for building these.
