Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Returns January 4


The 24th annual Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna will return to Walt Disney World Resort January 4-8 with a series of events leading up to the big race that winds through each park and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. To accommodate the weekend’s multiple events, Disney will make some adjustments to the transportation schedule, including road closures during the races. As a result, Guests may encounter detours and delays.


As one of the largest sporting events in Central Florida, and one of the nation’s top destination races, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is expected to draw more than 100,000 fans, spectators and runners from around the globe.

  • Jan. 4 – Noon-8 p.m.
  • Jan. 5 – 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Jan. 6 – 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Jan. 7 – 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
runDisney Kids Races - ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
  • Jan. 5, 6 and 7 – Kids dashes at 11 a.m. and 1-mile run at 12:30 p.m.
Walt Disney World 5K - Epcot
  • Jan. 5 – 6 a.m.
Walt Disney World 10K - Epcot
  • Jan. 6 – 5:30 a.m.
Walt Disney World Half Marathon - Epcot
  • Jan. 7 – 5:30 a.m.
Walt Disney World Marathon - Epcot
  • Jan. 8 – 5:30 a.m. 
Road Closures
Major roads, including Osceola Parkway, Victory Way, World Drive and Epcot Center Drive will be closed or operating under traffic restrictions starting at 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 6 and 7. Drivers should closely follow roadway signs and allow for extra travel time.

Transportation and Parking
Transportation has been arranged for participants staying at host resorts. Buses will be indicated by runDisney signs placed in the front windows. Please, note that transportation is only provided to and from host resorts. Guests who do not stay at a host resort are responsible for their own transportation to and from race-related events.

Wednesday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to EWWS: 11:30 a.m. – 7:30pm
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 8:30pm
Thursday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to EWWS: 9:30am – 6:30pm
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 7:30pm
Thursday (5K):
  • Host Resorts to/from Epcot: 4-5:30am and 7-9 a.m.
Friday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to EWWS: 9:30am – 6:30pm
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 7:30pm
Friday (10K):
  • Host Resorts to Epcot: 3:30-5:00am and 7-10 a.m.
Saturday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to EWWS: 9:30am – 3:30pm
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 4:30pm
Saturday (Half Marathon):
  • Host Resorts to/from Epcot: 3:30-5:00am and 7-11:00am. Race participants must board a bus or monorail to Epcot no later than 4 a.m. to be on time for race start. Transportation will continue throughout the morning for spectators. 
Sunday (Marathon):
  • Host Resorts to/from Epcot: 3-5:00am and 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. Race participants must board a bus or monorail to Epcot no later than 4 a.m. to be on time for race start. Transportation will continue throughout the morning for spectators.
Spectator viewing
There will be spectator viewing areas at each race’s start and finish areas.
