Disney Vacation Club Donates $25,000 to Make-A-Wish

As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, Disney Vacation Club (DVC) recently gave some of its Members the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive performance of Disney’s Broadway musical, Aladdin, at the New Amsterdam Theatre following a charter cruise for DVC Members out of New York City. At the conclusion of this particular performance, DVC Senior Vice President and General Manager Ken Potrock said that special wishes would be granted to some very brave children.

With help from the Genie himself, Tony Award-winning actor James Monroe Iglehart, Ken announced that Disney Vacation Club is contributing $25,000 to Make-A-Wish, a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. This contribution will help impact the lives of even more children and their families.

The Walt Disney Company has a long-standing relationship with the Make-A-Wish organization. For the past 35 years, Make-A-Wish and Disney have granted more than 100,000 Disney-related wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Disney-themed wishes have included magical experiences at the Disney theme parks, voyages aboard Disney Cruise Line ships and even special backstage visits to television and movie sets.

Many of the Disney Vacation Club Members and their Guests who attended the special performance of Aladdin had just returned from the Disney Vacation Club-exclusive Member Cruise, an exclusive charter cruise aboard the Disney Magic for Members and their Guests. This year, the Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise sailed out of New York City for the first time ever with a stop at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, as well as two action-packed days at sea.

Member Cruise voyages always include special entertainment offerings created exclusively for these sailings and this year, Members and their Guests were treated to appearances by Don Hahn, a legendary Disney filmmaker who produced the beloved Beauty and the Beast, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary; Imagineer Joe Rohde, the creative visionary behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park; Bill Farmer, the voice of Goofy and many other Disney animated characters; Pablo Hidalgo, Lucasfilm veteran and author of several Star Wars books; and even Auli῾i Cravalho, who voices the title character in the upcoming film Moana.

As part of next year’s Member Cruise, which sails from August 26-September 2, Disney Vacation Club Members will set sail aboard the Disney Fantasy for the first time ever, sailing an Eastern Caribbean itinerary.
