Animal Kingdom Lodge: Sense of Africa Tour Coming Soon

You will never fully appreciate just how tall a giraffe is until you're standing a few feet away from one, and she peers down to look right into your eyes. It's a truly unforgettable moment, one that Guests will certainly cherish as part of the new experience, Sense of Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge experience. The intimate behind-the-scenes tour will give Guests a unique peek into the people, food, art, and animals of Africa with a few surprises along the way.

The three-and-a-half-hour experience begins with an exclusive priority seating breakfast at Boma – Flavors of Africa before the restaurant opens to Guests. A Cast Member from the Africa continent greets the group with stories from home that focus on some of the authentic details of the restaurant. Participants can enjoy a few exclusive African dishes as well as the restaurant's buffet.

Following the meal, Guests will board a special safari truck that takes them backstage, for a series of up-close encounters with some of the resort's most-beloved animals: giraffe, okapi, ostrich and red river hogs. Animal encounters are voluntary for each animal; therefore, experiences are unpredictable and unique each visit.

The program is $249 a person, and all Guests must be at least 10 years old to participate. Each tour is small, with no more than 12 Guests, and the experience is offered only on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.

Sense of Africa is open to all Walt Disney World Guests, and reservations are available by calling 407-WDW-TOUR. Reservations will open April 5, and the first tour will take place April 9. Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members get a 15 percent discount on the tour.
