Epcot's "Circle of Life" Attraction Closes for Enhancements

The often-overlooked attraction themed after The Lion King (located inside The Land pavilion at Epcot) abruptly closed to Guests on Sunday, February 7, 2016 without any official announcement from the Walt Disney World Resort.
While the short environmental film is certainly due for an update, at this time it is not clear whether this closure is part of a larger project including a replacement for the existing movie or if it's just part of a major refurbishment of the theater.

Guests browsing the official website of the Walt Disney World Resort will now see the following note on the page dedicated to the Circle of Life attraction:
As part of our continuing efforts to exceed the expectations of our Guests, The Circle of Life is currently closed for enhancements. Please check back here for the latest updates and information about when it will reopen.

The inclusion of the word "enhancement" seems to point to the possibility of having a new movie or even new special effects added to the old Harvest Theater, which has featured this attraction since 1995.

In addition to that, plenty of work has already been done inside the theater overnight during the past few months. As we previously reported, the sides of the theater were completely refurbished back in 2014, while the refurbishment of the theater's seats was just completed, according to our sources.

The calendar on the attraction's page states that the Circle of Life will remain closed through April 2, reopening to all Guests on April 3. What might need to be done that requires a two-month closure?

  1. I always thought that theater with its location inside The Land and with Soarin' would make a nice spot for Disney Nature to have a movie and promote those movies and messages.

  2. Could it be an update to change the show to a Lion Guard theamed experience.

  4. It's missed cause most people go left when they enter the land building. I bet it's very quiet ATM with Soarin down to the summer.
