Magic Kingdom Park Update: The Busiest Day of the Year

Out of all the 365 days of the year, December 31 is always the single busiest day for the theme parks in the area, and that's definitely not a surprise.
Even though our own photographer Alex was aware of that, he braved the crowds to take a look around the park and see what's new since his last visit. In addition to that, we are sure you will be interested in knowing just how crowded the park was on December 31, 2015. We hope you'll enjoy the photos.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom Park:

While the park certainly felt busier than usual, this is becoming a familiar sight:

Mickey's Philarmagic had a 40-minute wait. This is usually a walk-on attraction:

One of the busiest areas of the park:

125-minute wait for Peter Pan's Flight:

Only a 50-minute wait for "it's a small world":

Temporary signs directed people to the exit:

Walking around Frontierland:

We have no idea about what's going on in this photo:

Heading to Adventureland:

85-minute wait for Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise:

Back to Fantasyland for an encore:

200-minute wait for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train:

A mere 65-minute wait for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh:

Tomorrowland:

50-minute wait for the Tomorrowland Speedway:

125-minute wait for Space Mountain:

0-minute wait for the Carousel of Progress!:

95-minute wait for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin:

20-minute wait for Stitch's Great Escape:

Time to exit the park:

...if we can.

  1. We have a fail safe plan for when the parks get this busy. I don't let any of the family shower for 3-4 days before we visit. We have no trouble with the crowds......

  2. In that picture you said you don't know what is going on, they are splitting the path in two just like a road so people can only go one way. GREATLY improves guest flow when you don't have people fighting against each other going in opposite directions.

  3. Can only imagine how long Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain had for wait times!

  4. I don't think that photo is anything related to crowd control. I'm pretty sure that's the service road next to Splash Mountain. The parades enter/exit the park at that point.

  5. What was the wait for the Treehouse?

I know that once I see that with a 10-minute wait, it's time to leave!

  6. The crowd control seemed on point to me. The separation of the walkway and the countless cast members directly foot traffic really seemed to help with the flow of things, I thought.

This was our family's first time there over the NYE holiday and the place was, as expected, packed. With FP+, we caught some rides, but otherwise, we waited until later in the week when it was slightly less busy.

The longest wait I saw was for Space Mountain which at one point was 280 minutes. I think it quickly readjusted itself down to 200 minutes, but that was something to see
