Epcot: Captain EO to Close Forever on December 7, 2015

A few hours ago, a new sign was installed in front of the Captain EO attraction at Epcot. In addition to the attraction's logo (and an artwork representing some of the main characters seen during the 3D show), a new message now invites Guests to "see them change the world one last time," as the "farewell mission" of this ragtag band will take place on December 6, 2015. The attraction will officially close its doors to Epcot Guests on Monday, December 7, 2015.

The official Disney Parks Blog confirmed that a new experience will replace Captain EO next month:

"Today, we’re happy to share that coming in December, Epcot guests can experience beloved Disney and Pixar animated shorts in a new 4D experience located in Magic Eye Theater in the Imagination Pavilion. “Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival” will include a look into the visionary minds behind some of the world’s most iconic animated films today.

Then inside the theater, guests can put on their 3D glasses and enter the imaginative worlds of three animated shorts, which will burst to life on the big screen (and in the theater) like never before."

  2. I would have loved to see HISTA again but be happy if it was replaced by a Wall E or Tron 4D attraction.

  5. Just don't get your massage from Hooter. That guy screws up every menial task. Time for an honest and constructive employee review, Captain!

  6. I get moving on from this attraction, but at this point EO costs very little to operate/maintain. To remove it and run shorts is absurd to me. I am all for closing EO, but how about they bring us an exciting new attraction? While they are at it, they could refurbish and restore Journey into Imagination to its original glory!

  7. Yes, bring back the original Journey Into Imagination! And, no..Michael was not a molester. He was an amazing human being who loved bringing happiness to everyone. He liked hanging out with kids because they don't judge people like U.S. adults do.

  8. Those that believed Jackson to be such a monster:: have you continued to do business with Disney all these years? Yes? Think about what that means...

No? Good for you. At least your acting in line with your beliefs.

  9. How about we go back to a time when this site was viewed on its great pictures and insight. You have never made a typo before? Give the reporter a break! This isn't Time magazine.

  10. @Last Anonymous: Thanks for the kind words regarding our site, but I believe the person you are responding to was actually commenting about a mistake he made in his own comment.

  11. A person/persons should be judged by what they bring to there trade and he was truly the king of pop. I think this is the start of major work done in this pavilion and can see journey into your Imagination closing in the summer.

  12. Unfortunately, Andy when someone is in the public eye, he or she will be heavily scrutinized- whether there is evidence or not. Public opinion seems to always win out. Like Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson should have been removed from the parks a long time ago. The difference between these two men is that only one has faced a court of his peers. Disney has a responsibility as a family oriented franchaise to be as free from controversy as it can.

People come here to check for updates from places they love to visit, not be faced with such vile words. OTPN, you guys do a great job with all your work, but stay on top of threads like this.
