Animal Kingdom Update: Discovery Island Expands (Part 1)

Every land of Disney's Animal Kingdom is currently receiving something new.
In Discovery Island, many locations are being expanded or refurbished, while a new table-service restaurant is being built right behind Pizzafari. In Africa, new entertainment offerings are currently being tested, while a brand-new nighttime show and a snack location will debut soon in Asia. Meanwhile, Primeval Whirl is still under refurbishment at DinoLand U.S.A., and Pandora keeps growing...

Welcome to Animal Kingdom:

First of all, work on the new Riverside Depot store continues:

We originally thought that this would just be an extension of the nearby Disney Outfitter shop:

That said, the name Riverside Depot has been added behind and in front of the building:

New details can already be seen behind the scaffolding:

The front of the building:

Notice the new sign near the bottom of this photo:

The rest of the building recently received a new color scheme:

The majestic Tree of Life:

On the other side of Discovery Island, we noticed that Island Mercantile received new signs:

The building also sports a new color scheme:

There are details everywhere:

New rockwork was also added nearby, along the path that will lead to Pandora - The World of AVATAR:

The pathway was enlarged:

Work on the new table-service restaurant continues. This will actually expand the footprint of the island:

The restaurant's entrance will certainly look very tall:

The rest of the building:

Some walls were installed around a small area near Pizzafari:

By the way, Pizzafari is no longer surrounded by walls. It will reopen on November 18:

It also received a new color scheme:

The sign welcoming Guests to the Tree of Life Garden was recently refurbished. It looks great:

It's nice to see Flik coming back to Animal Kingdom. He was meeting Guests next to Pizzafari:
