Global Tiger Day Celebrated Today at Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens Tampa will be celebrating Global Tiger Day today, July 29, 2014. Tigers have lost 97% of their wild habitat and as few as 3,200 living in the wild today. The SeaWorld Busch Gardens Conservation Fund has supported many tiger conservation efforts including the Kerinci Seblat Tiger Project with Fauna and Flora International who are working in Indonesian to preserve critical tiger habitat and protect tigers against poaching for the illegal wildlife trade.

As part of the celebration, guests can:
  • Attend a Meet the Keeper Tiger Talk in Jungala at 12:30 p.m.;
  • Take part in fun activities hosted by the Tiger Keepers for guests in the Tiger Lodge;
  • Get their face painted like a tiger (separate fee required);
  • Buy tiger-related merchandise for sale with a portion of proceeds going to the SeaWorld Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.
Busch Gardens participates in over 120 Species Survival Programs (SSP), including the Malayan Tiger SSP, and the birth of our cubs last year helped to contribute to a population of 63 individuals. The SSP promotes a healthy managed tiger population that, in the future, could involve tigers being reintroduced in the wild.
