Something Really Tall is Coming to Aquatica Orlando...

SeaWorld's Aquatica here in Orlando will receive at least one brand-new attraction next year, and according to the park, it will be very, very tall (almost as tall as Summit Plummet, currently the tallest waterslide in Central Florida). Here you are just a few more pieces of information regarding this mysterious new addition:

Something Tall Is Coming to Aquatica, SeaWorld's Waterpark, in 2014

Orlando, Fla. (September 6, 2013) – A height-test balloon, similar to the one in the attached image, was spotted several weeks ago over Aquatica, SeaWorld's Waterpark™, in Orlando. This type of balloon is commonly used by theme parks to check sight lines for new attractions.

Speculation at the time had the balloon 50 feet off the ground. That information is incorrect. The balloon was more than 100 feet high. Something tall is coming to Aquatica Orlando in 2014. Although designers haven’t shared details of the new attraction, they confirm it will be the tallest water thrill ride of its type in Orlando. Stay tuned for more information. #NothingTaller.

As you can see, this new waterslide will be 105 feet tall, and it will be "the tallest water thrill ride of its type in Orlando." We have highlighted a part of that quote to let our Readers understand that the press release may not be incorrect. While Summit Plummet is taller than that (it's a 120-foot drop!), the park specified that this new attraction will be the tallest OF ITS KIND, meaning that Aquatica's addition may not be a freefall body slide (if it ends up being that, then the press release can be considered totally wrong). One thing is sure: it is great seeing our favorite water park finally receiving some attention (the last addition to the park was Omaka Rocka, which opened in 2010).

  1. Uhm..... something make's me think that it could be Divertical!
Divertical was the 2012 new Itnamin watercoaster ride in Mirabilandia (Italy). This was the first of this type of water ride an it is more than 50 meter tall (150feet)

  2. While I would love to see Divertical, I don't believe there is any room at the park for that unless they remove something significant. It's also not a water ride per se so it doesn't really fit the theme of the park.

  3. Bigfoots may have hit the nail on the head here!
the most significant part of the press release is the "of it's kind" which means it has to be a ride / slide similar to something in Florida.
There is already a water coaster in Florida: Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld and while I agree it doesn't entirely fit the theme of Aquatica, I can understand that Seaworld wouldn't want to build it in that park, where there is already a watercoaster.
As for the room required, I'm sure OTPN reported a while back that Aquatica had purchased the land adjacent to the park and therefore could easily expand it!
I cant think of any other type of slide / ride Aquatica is missing and would want to build other than a freefall body slide - and as already stated, 105 ft DOES NOT make it the tallest!
