Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - August 2013 Update

Today we have a special Magic Kingdom photo-report that will focus solely on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the brand-new family coaster currently under construction in the New Fantasyland area of the park. let's take a look together and see how work has been progressing since our last visit to the park:

The rockwork is taking shape really, really slowly:

It looks like it is going to be an exciting ride, though:

Faux logs:

It looks like they are being installed underneath the tracks (a la Big Thunder Mountain):

Walking around the mountain:

The back of the mountain is almost complete:

The new gift shop (Triton's Treasures), coming soon:

Looking at the Seven Dwarfs' mountain from Tomorrowland:

More behind-the-walls photos:

More faux logs/wood:

Thank you very much for reading. We will post a complete Magic Kingdom photo-update in the next few days.

  1. I dont understand why they are taking so long on what is in the end a nice, but not revolutionary attraction.

Whats worse is with Universal down the road, constructing Transformers, Springfield and Diagon Alley, all of which look like they will be open before this (two of which started construction after this!) it makes Disney look worse.

Continually putting up prices but not delivering on new reasons to visit... Its a real shame but Universal seem to have the edge on them right now

  2. If someone is going to D23 and is able to speak to an Imagineer could you please ask why the corners are tilted when to coaster vehicle can do the same by itself. Doesn't take that away from the unique motion the vehicles can do.
I've seen a coasters that had planes hanging under it and it had no tilted track but the planes could swing sideways and the effect was because of that fun.

  3. I for one am excited for this to open, and cannot wait to see how the area all looks in December this year, maybe a little Pixie Dust, so there will be some soft opening during that week?

Thanks for a great update as always OTPN!

its much easier to make a giant metal cube, slap some stickers on the outside, put up a mass produced robot on the outside, and call it a day

  4. Universal just puts a movie screens. Furthermore they already had the specs done for transformers becasue its a carbon copy on spiderman. It would take universal a lot longer to build rides if they were actually building rides. Not movie screens

  5. Oh give me a break.... Universal is not just "putting up movie screens." They are building an entirely new land as well as an all new (non-clone) E-ticket and it's taking them less time than Disney is taking to build one single D-ticket attraction. The reality is that it is taking them a ridiculously long amount of time to build this thing and it's the ONLY new attraction that they are currently working on. Clearly there is something wrong with this picture, but I guess some fans are too addicted to the pixie dust to see it...

  6. To the last anon above me... You hit it spot on haha.. Not only is Universal constantly building FROM SCRATCH but they are also constantly updating fixing remodeling many of their attraction as you can clearly see by these great updates posted on the site.. Yet Disney isn't doing any of the above.. I want to see how long Downtown Disney takes or should I say Disney Springs

  8. Just look at the quality of Disney, you guys are looking at the quantity of things. Universal does put out some good rides but the rest are just ok and could be compared to Six Flags. Like the Hulk For Example.

  9. The AAs in this 7 dwarfs mine train ride are going to blow your Universal screens away!

  10. Sigh, another Disney/Universal debate. One thing's for sure is that it doesn't look good for Disney when Universal can open a whole new land in less time than it takes for Disney to build a new ride. However, in Disney's defense, this is an indoor/outdoor coaster and requires more attention than an indoor coaster like Gringotts, which by the way, is going to be way more than some screen based ride. I usually find the whole "Universal just does screens" thing cliche and trite, it's not like Disney doesn't use screens. And Gibby, like I said earlier this year, the Seven Dwarves Mine Train has yet to even begin testing and there are still some areas that need rockwork, so there's no way this thing soft opens any earlier than May 2014.

There, I said all I need to. Can you boys and gals get along now?

  11. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be pretty awesome and I love everything about Disney. However, they are focusing on only 1 attraction at the moment whereas Universal are opening numerous rides, lands, shops and even an extra hotel in the time it has taken Disney to build this ride and the Princess Fairytale Hall.

Universal are gaining the upper hand here. Disney need to speed up things up and think of new ideas to try and rival Universal. Whilst building this attraction, Disney should also be focusing their attention on Epcot and the large amount of space they have available in all those empty buildings in Future World.
