Epcot: Enhancements Coming to Illuminations?

First of all, let's start by saying that the following is nothing more than a mere rumor, as we have no "insider's knowledge" about what some of the Walt Disney World Resort's future theme park projects are at this moment.

That said, we simply want to report that we have noticed a lot of buoys all around the World Showcase Lagoon in the past few days. Most of them are white, and a few of them are red. We have never seen them before, so we definitely think they could be a potential sign about some possible enhancements coming to the park's already fantastic (but old) nighttime show, "Illuminations: Reflections of Earth." Here you are a few photos of the buoys we are referring to (NOTE: We apologize for the low resolution of these photos, but we didn't have our camera with us yesterday, so we had to use our phone. Again, we apologize about that):

Some of the buoys were very near to the shore:

Of course, these buoys could have always been there, and we just never noticed them...

So, what do you think? Is it possible that we may see a brand-new version of Iluminations in the next few years? Would you like to see the park completely altering the show (adding more special effects or better fountains, perhaps) and make it more appealing, or do you think they should leave as it is, maybe making minor changes?

  1. It doesn't fit with the theme of the park, but I would LOVE a version of World of Color here. The lagoon is massive, so having thousands of water jets all around would just be insane. It would take the already amazing World of Color and make it that much better!

However, I doubt that will ever happen. Illuminations is great for the most part with lots of fireworks. If they do anything to the show, I don't want them to cut back on the pyro...they need to add more! Adding more water jets around the lagoon would help since the few they have you can barely see. Hopefully something happens that for the better and not another cut back.

  2. I hope more pyro comes to the show! Besides that I love illuminations!

  3. I agree that more pyro and perhaps World of Color "like" fountains would be great. (The current fountains are so small they're almost pointless, given how large the lake is (1 mile circumference). With that said, I actually wouldn't want them to change the music. It's timeless. It's perfect!

  4. Rumours are that they are thinking of replacing the globe as it's getting old now and replacing it with more fireworks, fountains and lasers.

  5. Savo I also heard that!

  6. The white buoys have always been there; they are the tie-off cables for the existing show barges. The orange ones popped up a few months ago; not sure what those are exactly. I'm guessing a perimeter the Friendship boats have to drive around when the barges are on the water.
