OTPN Reader Shares Comments About FASTPASS+

As you will certainly know, the Walt Disney World Resort is currently testing a new kind of FASTPASS reservation system, aptly called FASPASS+. Today we want to share with you some comments made by one of our readers, who has been kind enough to write us about his experience:
_________________________________________________________________________

Just wanted to pass along some information, I leave two weeks from today for a week at WDW, and was invited yesterday for a test of FastPass+.

I was given a log in to a website, where i got to choose a day and two attractions/shows/experiences, and then it selected two more for me, to reserve a time for. They will mail me passes a week before I leave, or I can pick them up at the airport or cityhall [sic.] inside the MK.

I was able to select Saturday night, which we were already planning on being at MK, and got reserved times on Dumbo, Barnstormer (Random Selected 2) & what I am most excited about reserved seating for MSEP [Main Street Electrical Parade] and Wishes.

As you can see, this confirms the fact that this new system allows Guests to reserve their own space in line even before actually getting to the parks. Also, it gives them the opportunity of reserving rides and/or shows that currently do not offer the FASTPASS service (like the Main Street Electrical Parade, Wishes, the Barnstormer).

We will share with you more information about this new system in the near future. As always, stay tuned!

A big thank you to the reader that submitted these information to us.

  2. Is spontaneity what they're calling sitting in line these days?

  3. I'm excited by the new fastpass+, but at the same time, I miss just being able to eat where I like without booking 6 months out. Also advanced fastpasses for certain attractions is a risk. no one knows the weather 6 months out. I can see positives and negatives to this. However most Disney nerds, myself included, will figure it out.

  5. Reserved seating for parades and fireworks now too? That could be good, are they going to have a roped off area for those people?
We skip the dining plan because we like to eat when we want to, and go at our own pace. Now having to plan ride times as well may take more of the magic out of our trip. Plan every second from riding to eating just doesn't seem as fun, it sounds stressful always watching the clock! What if a dining reservation takes longer than you expected, since a reservation is not really a reservation? Then you may miss out on your ride reservation. What about rides that are popular, like TSM? Will all Fastpasses now be sold out before the park even opens because so many got them online? Hopefully this won't affect our visits much, we go during school when the lines are usually really short anyway, and rarely need fastpasses.

  6. Not happy about this. First they killed the surprise character meetings they had in the past and now the plus lines will eat in my stand by time in line. Thanks Disney but I will not return.
