New Fantasyland: Cast Members' Themed Costumes

The Disney Parks Blog recently posted a very interesting post regarding the new costumes that Cast members will wear in the various themed areas of the New Fantasyland. Take a look:

Weaving Costumes into the Storytelling Fabric of
New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park

Some of the first areas of our New Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom Park will be opening by late March, featuring a re-imagined version of The Barnstormer and a relocated Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction. When they debut, cast members working in these areas will be wearing new costumes inspired by the “Big Top” setting of Storybook Circus.

The Creative Entertainment Costuming team worked with Walt Disney Imagineering to develop these designs to bring the environment of Storybook Circus to life. The bold colors evoke the spirit of the ringmaster or sideshow barker, while the tails and detailing provide a period look of the 1930s.
In this video, you’ll see how the partnership between Walt Disney Imagineering and Creative Entertainment has produced an entire collection of unique costumes to be worn by cast members in each area of New Fantasyland, creating a rich sense of place and community.

We really like how each section of the New Fantasyland will have Cast Members dressed in different manners! That's what we call "immersive theming!" Yes, because even the costumes worn by Cast Members can greatly affect the feel of a themed area. Can you imagine strolling through Frontierland seeing a Cast Member with a Tomorrowland outfit? That would be distracting, don't you think?

On a related note, if you have watched the video, you may have noticed a small particular. Indeed, during one of the scenes, a new Storybook Circus artwork could be seen. Our reader Eric (who we thank again for making multiple contributions to our site!) took a snapshot of this hidden detail:

We would love to have an high-resolution version of that map! It looks like it is full of themed elements that we didn't even know about. The only thing we can do at this point is... wait. A part of Storybook Circus will open later this month, after all!
