Universal Studios Update - Despicable Me, etc. (Part 2)

Thank you for continuing to read this new photo-report (PART 1 can be found here).

Let's take another look at the current (sad) state of the former Amity Village:

No visible work is being done on the facades of the buildings seen here, but we have heard that the JAWS ride has pretty much been completely demolished already:

No more Captain Jake:

The photo-op is still here. Take a picture with it while you can (it should be moved elsewhere anyway, so don't worry too much about this):

The only visible demolition is happening right there:

Another view of the lagoon:

There's a walled-off area near the Simpsons Ride:

Talking about the Simpsons Ride, we noticed that one of the lights was not working:

There it is:

Let's move on:

Moving on to Woody Woodpecker's Kid Zone:

A new, temporary sign tells us to enter the Animal Actors On Location! theater by using this pathway:

...but, why is that?:

Well, because of this:

Universal's Cartoon Store is receiving a major refurbishment that will completely transform it into a giant Spongebob Squarepants-themed environment:

Universal's Cartoon Store's logo will soon be replaced, so take a last look at it:

Guests can still meet Spongebob behind the Pizza restaurant, located next to the former Cartoon Store:

Also, Spongebob merchandise is still available across the street:

Our favorite ride...

...had an incredible wait time, given that most of the attractions were walk-on!:

Something doesn't feel right in this sign:

Oh, now I see the problem:

Soon, a new parade will fill this street. We can't wait (we are very optimistic about it even though it seems like there will be only four floats)!:

It's going to be a lot of fun (the following image is subject to the copyright of the Universal Orlando Resort):

And this is all for today. See you tomorrow, with yet more new photo-updates. As usual.

  1. I loved this update. Good to see that Universal Resort is bringing so many new attractions in a year that we have a "stopped" Walt Disney World, of course, with the exception of the new Fantasyland. Meanwhile, California is getting a new beautiful area of Cars, fully themed with Radiator Springs... Sad.

I'm from Brazil so that I need to be stimulated with new attractions to always go back to Orlando. My last time in the city was in 2008 and because of Cheetah Hunt, Manta, Rockit and Universal's new attractions I came back this January. I need more great reasons to go back again!
