Many Refurbishments To Take Place in 2012 at WDW

Will you be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort after January 9, 2012? Well, then you will surely have a good time, as most of the crowds will be long gone by then. Unfortunately, there's a small detail that may make you a bit concerned... There will be quite a few major attractions and shows closed for refurbishment.

Indeed, here is the list of the rides that will go down for refurbishment, starting on Monday, January 9, 2012:
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom): January 9 - May 27, 2012
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Magic Kingdom): January 9 - later this year (date still TBD)
  • Fantasmic! show (Disney’s Hollywood Studios): January 9 - February 13, 2012
Here you are other miscellaneous refurbishments, which will also take place during the first months of 2012:
  • Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (Magic Kingdom): Now - March 28, 2012
  • Liberty Square Riverboat (Magic Kingdom): January 28 - February 4, 2012
  • The Magic Carpet of Aladdin (Magic Kingdom): February 26 - March 10, 2012
  • Tutto Italia Ristorante (Epcot): January 8 - April 1, 2012
  • Studio Backlot Tour  (Disney’s Hollywood Studios): February 13 - March 10, 2012
  • Kali River Rapids (Disney’s Animal Kingdom): January 23 - February 9, 2012
In addition to that, we would like to remind you that just yesterday it was announced that Test Track will soon receive a complete refurbishment (more information can be found here), so the ride will close for refurbishment in April 2012, with an anticipated reopening scheduled for fall 2012 (official date to be released).

  1. Disney's Official Website shows an end date for Dumbo. It won't be both but at least 1 should be operating.
