Little Mermaid Area and More to Open Next Summer?

In a rumor posted on another site, we discovered that the official Disney fan club ("D23") has just posted an interesting article that states that the new Fantasyland will ope in phases (and we already knew that), starting from summer 2012, including... Under The Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid and the Beauty and the beast area. Take a look, and try to draw a conclusion from this piece of information:
_________________________________________________________________________

"Over at Walt Disney World, the Fantasyland expansion—first announced at the 2009 D23 Expo, with an update given at the 2011 D23 Expo—will more than double the size of the area. The first phase opens in summer 2012 and will feature fresh attractions and richer experiences. Cruise by to check out Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest restaurant, and more!"

If these two areas will really be open by next summer, it would be a very pleasant surprise, as most of us were expecting to see only Dumbo and part of Storybook Circus to be open before October 2012. Of course, the article may be a bit misleading. By saying "first phase" they may be referring to Storybook Circus only (even though we all know it will open next February or March). If not, they may refer to Storybook Circus being open together with the other two themed areas (after all, they stated: "check out Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest restaurant, and more!").

In any case, we recommend that you continue to check back here as we keep an eye on any eventual new information about the subject.

  1. I wouldn't be surprised if these 2 areas of new fantasyland opened in time for thanksgiving 2012

As I've said before, I'm surprised by the pace of construction, especially if the area wasn't due to open til 2013

the only thing that may delay any opening would be the other construction in new fantasyland: health and safety may prevent an early opening if any construction impedes access to the new area (having not been to MK since the construction began I'm unsure if this might be the case)
