If you read our post on Facebook, you may already know that finally something has started to move in the former Skyway Station at the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Take a look:

Advisory ~ Former Fantasyland Skyway Site in Magic Kingdom Park Prepared for Future Use

A construction wall will go up around the site of the former Fantasyland Skyway building this week (week of May 8, 2011), beginning a long-term project to clear the land and prepare it for future use. Once work has begun, no vehicular traffic will be permitted in the surrounding backstage areas.

Yes, finally, it looks like demolition is starting! As we have seen in this post, published back in March, the rumors indicate that the Skyway station will be repurposed into new bathrooms, while the old bathrooms near Peter Pan's Flight might become part of the queue area for the ride, and may include new interactive elements.
Of course, this is partly a rumor, as nothing official has been stated about an extension of Peter Pan's queue (about the new bathrooms, a permit was leaked earlier this year, confirming that), but what else could they do in that small area? We can be almost 100% sure that it will be related to Peter Pan's Flight.

This also confirms that the Disney employee that was taking pictures of the area (as seen in this update), was there for a specific reason... Prep work for demolition!:

What do you think? Will you miss the Fantasyland Skyway?

  1. I've always missed the Skyway, but after it's removal, I've always hated the leftover building. I wish it was something more then a bathroom, but at this point I just hope it looks as nice as the old Fantasyland Skyway building.
