This Week in Disney History: Dec. 4-10

Dec. 5, 1901 - Walter Elias Disney is bornThe fourth son of Flora and Elias Disney, Walt was born in the family's two-story home on Tripp Ave. in Chicago. At age five, the Disney family moved to a small farm near Marceline, Mo., beginning a brief but impactful period in Walt's formative years that he later cited as the inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A. Always the artist, Walt sold his first sketches to neighbors at the age of seven. After spending time in Europe as a Red Cross ambulance driver after World War I, and his first stint working in commercial animation in Kansas City, he rode his dreams to California in 1923, where he and brother Roy O. Disney pooled their money, hopes and aspirations to form what has become The Walt Disney Company.
Walt was always on the cutting edge of entertainment technology. He paired the first cartoon with synchronized sound in "Steamboat Willie," which let audiences meet Mickey Mouse for the first time. He introduced the first full|-|length animated feature to the world with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." And he wowed theme park visitors with groundbreaking Audio-Animatronics. Walt's innovative approach attracted visitors to Disneyland Park from across the globe, allowing guests to lose themselves in the worlds of "yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy."

  2. The photo is very old, I think that it was taken even before Disneyland California even opened (1955)!!
It looks like it was the Enchanted Tiki room of Disneyland (or a mock-up version of it)

P.S. - Mock-up significa una sorta di prova, come una stanza temporanea dove gli Imagineers rappresentano una o piu' scene di un'attrazione o uno show che vogliono costruire...
