HRRR's problems are very, VERY serious

Yesterday, Screamscape reported a very scary, but highly improbable rumor about Universal Studios Florida newest roller coaster, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit:

HOLLYWOOD RIP RIDE ROCKIT - There is a big rumor flying around many of the Orlando centric fan sites claiming that the problems with the Hollywood Rockit are so severe, the park may end up removing the ride entirely. While anything is possible, the chances of this being true at this point so low that they are hardly worth mentioning. If true, we would more than likely be hearing stories about a huge lawsuit brewing between Universal and Maurer in Sentinel, but since that hasn’t happened yet, I think everyone should cool their jets a bit about the Rockit until we know more about what’s going on.
At this point all we really know is that there are problems and issues keeping the ride shut… and it’s no secret that this ride has hardly lived up to anyone expectations as far as providing an enjoyable ride experience to the guests. Anything beyond that is really wild speculation at this point. I’ll keep digging to see what more I can find out, but lets keep the sledgehammers in the tool shed for now.

What? Remove the ride ENTIRELY? No, I can't believe that. That rumor is not going to happen.
Yes, there are A LOT of problems, but that will not make Universal Remove the ride! It may take a long time to fix it, but eventually it will be reopened.

What do you think? What if Universal was going to remove HRRR and replace it with another ride/roller coaster? Would it be wise in your opinion? In my humble opinion, it would be just a huge loss of money and time. If it costs way too much to fix it, they will probably shut it down indefinitely (but I hope not! That would be terrible.). Let's wait and see what Universal decides to do.

  1. I dont think that Universal will close and remove it. I'm hoping that the manufacturer will make new trains that dont have stress problems

  2. There was the same rumor when IOA opened that the Flyer was going to be removed. It turns out just small fixes were needed. I'm sure this will spark a lawsuit, in which case, it will need to be standing for some time.

Good job not jumping to conclusions. Sometimes rumors are really just that.

  3. The chances of Rockit getting removed because of problems are the chances of Hulk getting removed because of the rust.

Sorry, but this rumor is just so unrealistic.

  4. It's bull, the parts will be repaired or replaced and it'll reopen.

It may take awhile and people will just have to deal with that, Universal is working to make it safe & fun and you can't fault them for that.

  5. Don't think it's feasible to remove it - it would disrupt the park WAY too much. I do feel they'll have to do a MAJOR rehab - maybe have someone come in & redesign the cars entirely. They'll just add it to the money they'll sue the coaster manufacturer for.
And,they're having MAJOR problems with the Battlestar Galactica coaster in Singapore too, so now they're dealing with 2 bad coasters!

  7. ^^IMO, HRRR's problems still isn't as bad as Battlestar Galactica's problems. USF actually prevented the cars from breaking, while in Singapore, during early test runs, a car broke during testing (on the Human side) (a seat came off during a test run).

  8. Well, the day I didn't get my ride, I was right at the platform when the car pulled in ........ & the people on the car weren't happy. They got them out of the car FAST, but I could hear them talk bout how something wasn't right with the car. The crew was all over the car ASAP - they were looking at it for about 15 - 20 minutes before they "pulled it off the track" (it actually went sideways into a repair bay). They then put another car on the track & when they took a look at that ....... they found something too. I was there for about 45 minutes right beside the cars on the track so I got a pretty good view. I think it's just been that they've been too afraid - or too smart - to run it with people on it so much. Wouldn't be surprised if something REALLY bad happened on a test run on HRRR (like on Galactica)- maybe that's why they're so cautious. And,they wouldn't want it too well known because they spent a FORTUNE on the coaster - & the coaster fans REALLY wanted to ride it. I have a bad feeling I'm never gonna ride it ....... Too bad they just didn't grab the Led Zep coaster from Hard Rock / Freestyle Park - they would have saved a lot of money & had a ride that actually works!

  9. @ southie_chick- Yes that B&M coasters do work, I agree a 100%.

Even when they get no love and covered with rust all over. Yes Hulk I'm talking about you...

Yes Universal drop the ball big time with this and Battlestar but they are not from the same company.Universal yes but not the same builder.
