How to escape the heat

Everybody knows that Florida has a gorgeous climate year-round, but summer can be quite hot.
Indeed, you should not stay under the sun without proper precautions (like sunglasses, skin protection, a hat, drinking plenty of water, etc...).

But what can you do to cool off without loosing time?

Here you are the 12 best places to visit on a very hot summer day:

12- Titanic - the experience on International Drive

This is a cool museum, that won't disappoint you, if you love history and ancient ships! It's a great way to spend two or three hours in a fully air-conditioned building, and believe me, when I say A/C, I mean it!!

It's so HIGH!

There's also the opportunity of touching a real iceberg!

11- Airboat ride (with any company)

What's better than one of Florida's signature attractions?
The Airboat ride is fun, entertaining and interesting for the whole family!

Of course, you will get wet!!:

There are many different Airboat companies, and among the most famous, there are Boggy Creek ABR, Big Toho ABT and Cypress Lake ABT.

10- Believe, Shamu's show in Sea World Orlando

This is really s great show, where killer whales can get you soaked if you set in the first 10 rows!

It would be one of the first things to do, but unfortunately, after the Tragedy that happened in April, the show is not as wonderful as it was before.

9- Discovery Cove

Of course, this has to be Orlando's coolest and most spectacular theme park, where you can actually swim with dolphins, tropical fish, hand-feed tropical birds... and your breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, towel, sunscreens, drinks, 14 days to Sea World or Aquatica are all included.

Why then it's on the 9th place? Well, the price is a bit high... $99 WITHOUT swimming with the dolphins and $199 WITH the Dolphins. It's something you can't miss!

8Gator Gully Splash park at Gatorland

A nice water play area for children (and adults) alike, to cool off from the heat. It's not a water park, but it's not expansive (you have just to pay Gatorland's admission price, and that's included).

7- Wild Arctic in Sea World Orlando

This is a very cool attraction in Sea World. It begins with a simulator (you can skip it if you want) an then you're sent to an Arctic base camp, where you'll see polar bears, walruses and more!

Great theming and cool temperature!

6- Ice Bar Orlando at International Drive

No, don't worry, you do not have to drink in this bar!!! You can just sit down or look at the great ice sculptures that are placed all around the bar! It's really a great idea, and you can't say that this is not COOL enough....

Of course, somebody that likes the hot (like me!) will have to bring a jacket...

5- Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges
or
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
both at IOA

Two great water attractions that will leave you SOAKED, especially Popey's!
Don't believe me? Then try them!
But if you don't bring your swimming suit, don't blame me!

Rip Saw Falls are much more intense than Popey's Bilge-rat Barges:

4- Adventure Island, Busch Garden's water park

Adventure Island is the less-known water park of Busch gardens, but this doesn't mean it's not as good as the others! Of course, the theming is not at the same level as in the other water parks, and this is a smaller one.

It's themed after Key West, and that's great because everybody loves Key West!!

3- Wet 'n' Wild, Universal Orlando's water park

Wet 'n' Wild is Orlando most thrilling water park, with slides that can be defined more like coasters.
Unfortunately, if you have a family with young children or people that do no like extreme slide, this water park is not appropriate for you then.

Moreover, the theming of this water park is simply absent, because it has no theming at all!

2Aquatica, Sea World's water park

This is one of the most themed water parks. It has white sandy beaches, great slides, fish, Commersons dolphins, etc... This is Orlando's Newest water park too, having opened in 2008.

You can have the priceless opportunity of sliding past the dolphins!:

This year, there's also a brand new slide, Omacka Rocka!

1- Typhoon Lagoon / Blizzard Beach, WDW's water parks

With the world's most visited water parks, you can't go wrong...
These two water parks are simply great in theming, offer and they are suitable for the whole family!

I personally like more Typhoon Lagoon, but just a bit more than Blizzard Beach.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN IT'S TOO HOT?

  2. The Titanic Experience is amazing! I'm from Belfast and it puts us to shame. We have nothing like it here, only the actual dock where it was built, but no museum or anything.
