The blog of the Universal Orlando Resort shared two great photos showing the new track pieces:
Marvel Superhero Island:
Let's begin by checking out The Incredible Hulk Coaster:
Work also continues in the lagoon:
Leaving the area:
Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges is still down for refurbishment:
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is still open to Guests at this time:
The Jeep that was parked in front of the Spinosaurus has been temporarily removed:
Work is being done in The Lost Continent:
It's time to leave the park. We will be back very soon, though:
Once Hulk and Kong are complete, the next few things I hope Universal does with Islands Of Adventure are: 1. Bring back the Island Skipper Tours, 2. Put an appropriate show in the Toon Lagoon theater or re-purpose the building for a new attracion and 3. Develop a permanent night-time show for the park in the central lagoon that could compete with Epcot's Illuminations.
Skipper Tours? Although IOA might get a night time show on the lagoon, it will never be able to compete with EPCOT's Illuminations. Hopefully it will be a bit better than UO's nighttime show, but Disney has the lockdown on nighttime/firework shows
The Universal Orlando Resort is surrounded by residential neighborhoods on two sides. Most of those neighborhoods pre-date Universal. I used to live in the condos on the north side of Vineland Rd. If I remember correctly, the development was built in the mid 1970s.
Due to this situation, Universal doesn't have carte blanche like Disney does when it comes to fireworks. I doubt that will ever change.
latest rumor about the Toon Lagoon theater area is that it'll be made into a Secret Life of Pets attraction (or whatever that new movie's called).
Ideally they would can ET; that has got to be the most lame ride and outdated area of the park.
Misleading title that gets my hopes up is misleading.
"that could compete with Epcot's Illuminations."
Why? Universal is at its best when it doesn't copy Disney. Right?
Isn't that why so many people like Universal - its the opposite of Disney?
Do you really think people are going to pick a park based on a fireworks show?
