Sponsored shops are nothing new to Disney. People just seem to be more upset about it nowadays. Opening day at Disneyland featured a Coca-Cola refreshment center, Carnation Ice Cream Parlor and a Bank of America.
I find it funny that people complain about the new sponsorships, but don't blink at getting a DOLE whip, eating at Edy's, Siemens' very visible sponsorship of Spaceship Earth and Illuminations, or Monsanto's sponsorship of Living with the Land.
The Speaker boxes in Frontierland have been there. They are not new
