The Walt Disney World Resort recently introduced the "Mickey Check" in their parks, which helps parents in choosing healthy food items for the kids. Here's an exhaustive explanation of this recent addition:

Addressing a need for families, Disney introduced the Mickey Check, a tool of Disney Magic of Healthy Living, that makes it easier to identify nutritious choices in stores, online, and on vacation at various locations throughout Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts. In order to receive the Mickey Check, foods must meet the Disney Nutrition Guidelines. Specific nutrition guideline information for all food categories is available online at www.disneymickeycheck.com

Menu items that meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines will have the Mickey Check icon positioned directly before the item name. Menu items with the Mickey Check meet Disney Nutrition Guidelines for the complete meal category only when ordered without substitutions.
  • Menus at quick-service restaurants will offer a selection of Kids’ Complete Meals featuring the Mickey Check in November 2012.
  • Table-service restaurant menus will introduce a selection of Kids’ Complete Meals featuring the Mickey Check in January 2013.
  • Carts and kiosks that offer minimally processed or stand-alone fruits and vegetables will begin featuring the Mickey Check on their menus in 2013.
An information card is available for Guests at all food & beverage locations that feature the Mickey Check on their menu. Guests can request an information card at the food & beverage location or Cast Members who have access to a printer can print the reference sheet located under Images and Files.

This is definitely a great tool that Guests should use all the time. Also, just as an update, the "Mickey Check" will officially be added to menus of quick-service restaurants starting from November 14, 2012. The dates for table-service restaurants and for carts and kiosks have not yet been released. We will keep you posted.
